My wife chose this because she likes predictably nice hotels. Though a tad far from our niece, who we came to visit, it was perfect with no (unpleasant) surprises. The breakfast was great, bed was comfortable and we used the gym next door at the Sheraton. We would definitely stay here again.

I don't quite understand the fan club giving 5 stars to this place. This hotel is not within walking distance to the light rail stations or the shopping areas. The pool was green and the spa was closed when we visited. No fridge in the room, wireless connection unreliable. No fitness room. Seemed very expensive (about $160) for a place with all plastic cups in the rooms. Key cards stopped working, got a shrug from the front desk as though it's a typical occurrence. Wallpaper & hallways on the verge of shabby. One thing they do well is provide lots of food. Great breakfast & cookies in the afternoon. Shuttle drivers seemed to spend most of their time hanging out & smoking at the next door Sheraton.

Above par characteristics: Friendly staff, clean and comfortable room, bed that was just right in fluff and firmness, laptop desk in the room as you sit ensconced in your comfy bed, free printing on business center stations in lobby, free coffee, tea, juice, and fruit all hours of the day, fast shuttle that will take you to the nearby Cascade Station and the Airport whenever you wish, very pet-friendly with no extra fees. Regarding the shuttle, here is a tip for travelers who may not think of this: The Aloft Hotel at the Cascade Station shopping center (where you can take the free shuttle) has a well appointed bar with a light menu, fitness room, open-air courtyard, and it's pet-friendly so you can bring your dog and relax anywhere there, if you want. Because the same company owns the Hampton Inn, the nearby Sheraton, and the Aloft, you can consider yourself welcome at all three, anytime. Also, the new Famous Dave's BBQ restaurant at Cascade Station is now open and there is a small outside dining area that will tolerate your pet (I say "tolerate" because your dog will have to sit just outside the dining boundary gate, but our dog was not troubled by that restriction one bit). For reasons I won't delve into, we were kind of "trapped" without a car and not many other options during our stay, including a desire not to take public transit around town, but the Hampton Inn made this situation as comfortable and convenient as possible for us.

Now, here are my few complaints though, just to warn others. Only three things. If it weren't for these three items, the hotel would have gotten five stars from me --- and I've stayed in many higher-end hotels in my day, so it's not that I'm wowed easily.

1. No restaurant or snack bar: It is somewhat of a pain to have to arrange for all your meals except breakfast to be picked up from somewhere else.

2. No fitness room: Yes, you can trek over to the nearby Sheraton, but it'd be nicer if the Hampton had its own fitness room when you want to workout really late or early in the day.

3. And finally, the poor free wireless network: We complained twice about very bad connectivity, dropped connections, etc., and had to spend hours on the phone with technical support. Then after those hours, nothing changed and we were without service for about 6 hours or more one evening. The staff offered no help, even though I happened to hear other callers complaining about the troubles too when I was at the front desk. Those six hours were during a stretch of time when I really thought I'd get the chance to be productive and do some work online/remote connections/VPN/get dropbox files, etc., but alas, a whole evening of productivity lost. Can't get those hours back.... Again, I really wish management or staff could've offered to help us get the situation resolved faster.

Anyway, despite these three complaints, I would definitely recommend the Hampton to any travelers --- especially those with pets. You will feel comfortable and welcomed.

Picked the Hampton, because of trip advisor recommendations, it was great, they offer van service to area eating places and shopping mall as well, no extra charge. It was close to the airport and you could hear the planes(and watch from a window the landings and take offs)
but the noise of the planes was not loud enough to interfer with TV or sleep, just a muted sound,
In the evening they offered cookies and milk and coffee and tea and some fruits, again free, breakfast was good, even had "to go breakfasts"
The room was large, clean and the bed very comfortable.
staff helpful, and pleasant
the only thing is they didn't have a fridge or microwave in the room, guess i have just become accustomed to these little amenities, but you can live nicely without them for a night:)

This was a great hotel. Right by the entrance to the airport made it very convenient to return the rental car and check in the airport. Beds were very comfortable. Room was very clean. Staff was very friendly and the breakfast was really good.

Very clean and well kept Hampton Inn located at the Portland Airport. Very close to drop rental car. My room was quiet eventhough the back of the hotel faces the active runways. Good view of planes landing and taking off if you are interested in that.

No restaurant, but the Sheraton next door has a full restaurant and bar service. Food was fine and price was about standard for hotels.

Would stay again

We stayed here on the front and back end of a park, stay, and fly package. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, room was clean, spacious, and remarkably quiet for its proximity to the runway. Our first nite we had a room fronting the road and it was very quiet, our second we were on the runway but it was pretty quiet for all the jet traffic. We had a front row seat for the ANG F-15's taking off. Way cool!

The breakfast setup is excellent, the shuttle service staffed by helpful and cheerful drivers and you're only minutes away from the airport and/or MAX. We got in late both nights and were able to get pretty good food from the bar/restaurant at the Sheraton across the way.

Our rig was safe and sound in its special long term parking lot.

What more could you ask for?

Room Tip: Ask for upper floors away from runway if jet noise is bothersome. They do provide earplugs!
