Description: At the Farmstand, we highlight fresh exquisite produce at its absolute best. The care that goes into our produce is the same care that goes into producing our menu. We prepare our menus and dishes with deep respect for the European tradition of peasant cuisine. We work with our hands. We make our own pasta. We bake our own bread. We make pates, mousses, terrines, hams, and sausages. Some items will be familiar and some will be an adventure. All dishes will be crafted thoughtfully with respect to the land and local businesses.

Gathering Together Farm is just about my favorite restaurant anywhere. It's actually on a farm in rural Philomath, Oregon. It's open only from April through October as it's mainly outdoor seating, and you know, it really does rain a lot in our beautiful Northwest. The produce is grown right here, so it's fresh as fresh can be. Meat is also locally, organically grown. The chef,J.C. Mersmann, prepares meals that are as beautiful as they are delicious. Be sure to bring home some of their home-baked cookies, scones, donuts. Open for breakfast on Saturday, lunch Tuesday through Friday, and dinners on Friday and Saturday. No matter when you come, sitting outside, all the beautiful flowers in bloom, the alpaca farm across the street, you feel like you're on a vacation. At night, though, it becomes absolutely magical.

We have been here for lunch several times, and dinner only once. Their meals feature either ingredients grown on the farm, or from local farmers. The meals are innovative and amazingly affordable for what you get. My only negative is that they are now so popular you really need reservations.

Only open for dinner a couple of evenings during the summer, this place is a real 'find'. Reservations are a must and the menu changes weekly drawing on what's being harvested. Nicely varied and creative menu offering inspired cooking at it's best. Highly recommended.

I love food, I am partial to healthy, fresh, locally-grown organic food, and this restaurant takes the cake. The produce is grown right there on the farm, year-round, and the proteins come from local farms raising animals humanely. However, above all else, the taste is fantastic. The menu changes regularly with the seasons. There is always pizza cooked on the patio in a clay oven. The desserts are fresh and delightful as well, though I seldom have room for sweets after dinner. I have enjoyed every meal that I have ordered, weekend brunches, lunches, and dinners. This is primarily a farm, with a few tables available for meals, so check to be sure they are open and that they have room. Reservations are important because only a few people can be seated per meal. I also stop by to pick up organic produce grown right there for cooking at home. And, the people are friendly and very helpful. A++++ You will not regret dining here! Honestly, there is nowhere in the Corvallis area that I would rather eat.

Chef JC Mersmann is the area's premier chef, in our opinion. He takes the produce of Gathering Together, and other nearby farms, and creates delicious, winning meals, every time. We eat there frequently on Thursday and Friday nights during the summer, enjoying everything from brodetto (fish soup with a delicious broth enhanced with fennel seeds and juice from local tomatoes) to lamb stew with gnocchi. The chef is a big fan of cured meats, and makes fantastic pates, sausages, and mousses. From JC's kitchen we have enjoyed everything from mustard ice cream to a sampling of 6 pork dishes made with heritage pork. Ingredients are largely fresh and extremely local. Not to be missed are the monthly wine dinners, featuring local wines paired with a lavish multi-course meal. The price is a bit higher for these and you need to book on the first of the month to get in--the locals have got it figured out. If you are a Slow Food type--this is the restaurant for you!
