There is nothing like the Peldleton Round up for good times with so many activities. Once a year the town turnes into somewhere secial! The entire community joins in the activities. They are all part of the experience. They volunteer for everything..The guests are from all over the world. The mounted band, the indian village and the parade are only a piece of the fun. Come next year it will all start again..come join the fun...

Had my first chance to see the Pendleton Round-Up this year and what a great experience it was! Cowboys and cowgirls all over the place and all dressed the part. Outside the arena, Indian tribes from all over the west put on show for best war dance (male and female), best authentic outfit (male and female). The clothing ensemble was spectacular! A few highlights from inside the arena: bronco riding, steer wrestling, calf roping (kind of rough on the poor four-legged critters!), team roping, and bull riding (kind of rough on the two-legged critters)! It was non-stop action from start to finish!

While it was warm (mid 90's) on the day we were there, we had seats in the shade so it wasn't too bad. Ticket price at the gate wasn't too bad - $27. The arena is small enough that almost every seat has a good view of the events. Bring your camera!

Bottled water inside the arena - $3; outside the arena from enterprising American Indian kids - $1. Accommodations around Pendleton are usually filled up during Round-Up. Consider staying around the Tri-Cities area of Richland/Pasco/Kennewick, Washington about an hour's drive from the north.

The Pendleton Round-Up is always a good time and we enjoy attending when we can find accommodations. This year, due to a late confirmation on a hotel, we ordered tickets that put us on the top rows of the arena. Even from those seats, we enjoyed the rodeo and were very happy to be there. For the first time this year, we kept track of the scores and winners ourselves which made it even more interesting. From the opening gun, it is continually entertaining. To see what those cowboys and cowgirls do never ceases to amaze. The work by the people of Pendleton to present this Rodeo is truly amazing. The parade is fun, the streets are always cleaned, the people are fantastic, and all I can say is, you need to experience it and see for yourself because I just can't mention it all. It is a whole Pendleton experience.

The Pendleton Rodeo is just like it was 50 yrs ago. It is fast, dangerous, and exciting. THe show moves along at a fast pace, many different events, one after the other. The downtown is a large party spread over many city blocks. Something for every body. Every one should make a effort to visit at least once in your lifetime.

The show was great but before you could enjoy the show you had to leave all food and drink outside the rodeo. It was in the mid 90's in the shade and we had none where we sat. There were no other seats available when we ordered. That wouldn't have been so bad if we were allowed to bring in our cooler of soda cans. The event staff were telling everyone they couldn't bring in beverages even water and gatorade were left behind. The announcer was telling everyone to drink lots of water and that people were visiting the first aid station. Water, what water? I saw vendors in my section maybe twice, the official ones that sold water bottles or bottles or soda for $3 or the Native kids who sold from a cooler in a wagon for $1. I mainly saw them when going to the restroom to fill our water bottles we brought in empty with water and to soak my head which was dry within 1/2 hour in the heat and dryness. I would only go again if they change their policy on bringing in your own sealed containers of water, Gatorade type drinks, or soda. It is not worth heat exhaustion or stroke. Also there were NO drinking fountains.
