“Great quirky place”
Reviewed September 27, 2012

Ate dinner here while passing through Pendleton. I had a salad and fries. My dad had a burger and fries. The food was excellent. The atmosphere was nice. The building is really cool. Parking was plentiful. Will eat here again if I am ever in Pendleton.

“Good place for quick service during PRU”
Reviewed September 26, 2012

Once again we were attending the Pendleton Round Up and found ourselves facing long lines and wait times at Hamley or Cimmyottis restaurants when someone yelled let's try the Prodigal Son. Turns out that was a nice choice. Amid all the downtown hustle and bustle this little Brew Pub is a block off the main action so we were quickly seated, and a sampler of about 10 different types of beer was promptly placed in front of us. Some good stuff in there. We all ordered the burgers or the fish and chips both of which turned out great with great fries. They had a 3-piece band playing great 60s rock and roll tunes...very well!! We will go back again next year.

“I wanted to love this place........”
Reviewed September 26, 2012 via mobile

I was hoping for some fantastic food to go along with our ultra friendly waitress and such an amazing building, I was totally disappointed. My husbands burger was simply awful, over cooked and lacking any kind of seasoning. The bun was stale and the fries were limp. I ordered the onion tart, it was disgusting! It tasted a week old! The pastry was soggy and it was like chewing mush. That is not how you caramelize onions people. I'm not a fan of beer or hard cider, a liquor licence that would allow a cocktail to be served would be nice. They should stick to well done classic brew pub fare instead of trying to be upscale and completely missing the boat. This was our fourth and final "chance" for The Prodigal Son, next time our friends suggest meeting here for drinks we will have to decline.

“Great beer and kids area. Food okay.”
Reviewed September 23, 2012

This place had great beer, wine and local hard cider. They even had a pretty large children's area for those with children. The place is very large and the atmosphere was really great. The food was only mediocre though. It could have been a off day for them so we'll give it another try if we're back in Pendleton.

“Not impressed...”

Had the pulled pork sandwich, was not that good. Can't say to much about service since I ate here during Round-up so was very busy.
