“Hampton came through for us in a pinch”
Reviewed October 10, 2010

We had booked our weekend family trip to Pendleton to stay at the Rugged Country Lodge just down the road from the Hampton. See my review with the same date for how that hotel left us hanging. We called the Hampton for last minute rooms and within 15 minutes we had driven over to the hotel, were checked in and unpacking in two huge, beautiful connected rooms.

Hampton staff were very friendly, the rooms are clean and tastefully decorated, and the beds are like sleeping on clouds. There is a large breakfast room with a very nice breakfast spread that goes beyond the typical "continental" breakfast. The coffee was even good, something I don't usually expect at chain hotels. Our 3-year old enjoyed the pool and overall our family of 4 had a very pleasant stay. We will stay here again on future trips to Pendleton.

The Hampton in Pendleton, Oregon is an excellent place for a business stay. I recently spent a night and enjoyed the it very much. The staff is friendly and courteous. The pool and work out room are well maintained and clean. There were cookies in the evening and breakfast bagels with eggs in the morning. Thoroughly enjoyable stay.

This is a difficult place to find, tucked on a hillside south of the freeway. It is quite new, has that "new" smell and, I believe, is entirely nonsmoking which we strongly prefer. Once this hotel catches on with more reviewers I suspect it will be hard to get into without advance reservations. The rooms are spacious, though you do need to use an elevator to access upper floors. Many rooms have a view to the north overlooking the town of Pendleton. The breakfast room is small but adequate. There was no meat dish the morning we were there but otherwise this was a most enjoyable stay. We'd recommend to any weary travelers who, like us, just wanted a nice place to relax as they travel through.

We decided to spend the night in Pendleton on our way from Sun Valley to Seattle as we like to limit the time we spend driving and enjoy exploring new places. We did not have high expectations for Pendleton or the Hampton Inn, although the reviews on trip advisor of the hotel made it worth a shot. Wow, were we surprised not only with the quality of the hotel and our room but with Pendleton itself. We visited the Pendleton Woolen Mill and got a great deal on a beautiful blanket. We had dinner at Hamley Steakhouse and couldn't say enough about the excellent quality of the meal. The town was charming, the shopping was great (my husband even bought a new pair of jeans at Hamley's, which is almost impossible to get him to do). The next morning the breakfast selection and breakfast room at the hotel were all beyond our expectations. I had their waffles and they were to die for. I would stay here again, and again. Great value, excellent stay.

This was a one-night stay for us to simply explore the Pendleton area.

Check-in was swift and the pleasant staff was able to accomodate our room preferences. When we asked about a local restaurant recommendation, they asked us what we were interested in and then immediately printed out the information for us from the Internet so we could find it and make a reservation.

The hotel and our room was spotless. Room includes HD t.v. Nice feature is an installed hi-speed connecting cable for the computer (better security than wireless) and requires a password, which is provided upon check-in. The bed and pillows were extremely comfy - couldn't have been better. Very quiet hotel.

The staff appears to be very well trained. They are very relaxed, seem to enjoy themselves, and very helpful. Five minutes after we arrived in our room the front desk called us to ask if everything was satisfactory. One particular empoyee worth mentioning was the breakfast attendant, Myra. She was constantly on the move cleaning the area and keeping the area well stocked. She even brought us a USA Today when it arrived as they were a little late with their delivery. When she gave us our newspaper, she asked if she could clear the table of our used plates. Thanks, Myra.

Thanks, Hampton Inn. It was a pleasant stay. We recommend this hotel.

Stayed here on a business trip. The place was great. All my colleagues agreed. Wonderful service. Friendly staff. (They even called the room after check in to see if all was OK) Very clean, comfortable bed and bedding. I would stay here again.

This is a terrific Hampton Inn, better than average. From check in to check out and beyond, they did a great job -- from an attentive staff to a large room and included amenities like free wi-fi and a small business center.

I was given a nice room on the 4th floor, which included a sofa bed and a flat panel TV. The room had plenty of extra shelf space in the bathroom and a comfortable work area. Most hotels feels like bedrooms; this felt more like a living room with a bed. The bathroom was clean and the shower worked. Like a lot of newer hotels, there seems to be a move away from bathtubs in favor of big showers; that was the case here.

Upon check-in, there was a welcome notice in my room addressing me by name. This is a small detail, but one that's appreciated. It seems that the hotel actually thought about your reservation. The next morning, breakfast was served til 10AM. They served different hot menu items each day, a couple of different coffee blends, and lots of carbs. Even at 10AM, the breakfast counter was well-stocked.

Next door to the breakfast area, the hotel has an indoor pool and a hot tub. They have a fitness center, too.

The only thing I didn't like was the hotel's location, on the edge of town clustered with a bunch of other roadside motels. Unless you want to go to the Circle K for a soda, you're driving everywhere. Too bad, because Pendleton has a decent downtown for a city its size and it seems one of the better chains would give downtown a chance. Not everyone is passing through on the way to somewhere else... or are they?
