I have to go here for the fresh fish and chips every time I'm in the area. Don't order off the menu. Get the special of the day!!! Chowder is dang good too. Ambiance is typical dive bar with local fisherman for added entertainment

The Sportsman Pup and Grub in Pacific City, Oregon was a delightful surprise. Not ONLY did they pour a Wisconsin-sized gin & tonic, and not ONLY did they have free pool on Wednesday, and not ONLY do they fry up razor clams on Thursdays (which, sadly, we weren't able to stay for), they served up the very best LING COD we'd ever tasted, possibly because it's caught on the Pacific Coast, but too often it's thin, "wet" tasting and used to hold something else in place, like a piscine tortilla. BUT HERE the ling cod was mild in flavor, substantial in texture, and very lightly, flavorfully breaded, as were the onlion rings, LOTS of them. It also came with a delicious cole slaw which was mild, not vinegary, and a satisfying foil to the "fry." The only thing missing, though not at all really missed, was a slice of buttered rye bread, traditional in the old country. AND the bartender and servers were fun, friendly and helpful. They told us we didn't have to have anything breaded or fried, but what's a fish fry without that? I ask you. We had a great time and a meal that surpassed nostalgia!

This place is a popular local establishment and looks every bit of a place called "Pub and Grub". Don't let that fool you. The food is pub grub at its best. The fish and chips are wonderful and the salads, a bargain (as are the drinks). If you happen in on a Sunday night, the rib-eye steak dinner for less than $15 is the way to go.

We had a great date night here while in Pacific City. It's a local dive bar with fantastic food and cold beer. The bartender even fixed me a "surprise" drink and it was great! We were there for so long we had 2 waitresses; the first was nice but not overly friendly, the second was incredible. Best waitress we've had in a long time! Will definitely return the next time we're on the coast.

Locals call this "Sporty's". It's the local dive bar. Standard bar options with beer. Beers need updating. Best night is Thursday night when they have fresh pan fried razor clams. Their rib eye stew is delightful. Watch out for their burritos - the regular size is PLATE size. Order the small, it's still huge.

Otherwise everything here is fried. Salads are out of a bag - no imagination. Cole slaw is okay. Jo Jo's are awesome. It's very much a mixed bag. If you like pool, there are a couple of pool tables. Can be a fun crowd, mostly over 40. It's a quaint drinking town with a fishing problem. So on local nights, Thursday, Friday - lots of tough talking fishermen hit Sporty's.
