The Inn at Cape Kiwanda is probably the big vacation fish in the small pond of Pacific City, associated with the Cottages and the Pelican Pub. (I envision someone saying, "What a nice place! I bet we could get visitors to come in to stay, eat good food, maybe buy into our condos." Quite the package deal.) And it IS a nice place, with clean, well-appointed rooms, pleasant staff, endless coffee, on weekends a Manager's Reception with wine and beer. Very nice touches to make the place distinctive. And across the street very good food and even better beer at the Pelican, although you might wonder about the cost of your meal.
I can't really find much to disappoint. I guess the one thing I can point at is how I really enjoy the sound of the surf in my hotel room, but as the Inn is across a busy street from the beach you get a little surf intermixed with heavy doses of car and truck noise. But face it - the road was there before the Inn, so what can you do? Well, I guess you can book a room in the Cottages, which are across the roadway and up on a bluff. We might just do that next time, as it is worth a return visit.More
