“Classic motel, trying really hard to please”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2013

This is a motel of perhaps ten or a dozen units set round a courtyard where you park. It was like a motel from an old movie. We walked in because we had driven far enough and were feeling tired towards the end of the day, but the motel was much nicer than we had anticipated. It is set in a utilitarian neighbourhood on US 101. (The word "city" in Pacific City is an outrageous hyperbole!) The motel is a half mile walk from a park and a sandy beach, which itself is a mile or so south of an interesting harbour with dories drawn up on a beach.

Our room was spacious, beds were comfortable, the room was very well provided with amenities, and it was scrupulously clean. The lady at reception showed us the room and we liked it but there was something in its preparation not to her liking (which we hadn't seen) and she checked us in and gave us the key but asked us to come back in a half hour while she re-educated the maid: she runs a very tight ship!

The motel was very good value and we had absolutely nothing to complain about! There are diners and fast food places around the Inn but we drove to and ate at the Pelican Brewery at the harbour. That was an excellent fish meal, with a good beer and a sea view.

Room Tip: I think all the units are very much the same.

Lovely old style motel - rooms have everything you want in them, it's clean, comfortable and very friendly. Sad that we could only stay one night and would definitely go back. Fantastic value for money and fantastic lady on Reception. Loved it.

We stayed there one night during our trip along the Oregon coast. This motel exceeded our expectations as we normally try to avoid these kind of facilities. The room was spacious and clean, the beds were fine, there is a fridge and a microwave as well as the tea/coffee maker in the room. The front desk lady was very friendly. If you have to stay in Pacific City, OR, I would recommend this motel without hesitation. And we thought it was an excellent value for the price we paid.

The Inn at Pacific City is directly across from Pacific City Inn, note they are two different places.
This is on the right when you go into town and one level which makes parking and loading and unloading easy. Staff is friendly, place is clean and units have a newer TV in them.
Good location if you want to be in Pacific City.
You have to drive to the beach which is small and limited. But then the eating options are limited too. There is a kayak boat rental in town which is great fun.

My Husband and I stayed here for my Birthday and this place is super cute, super clean and really have a great staff!! I have been going to Pacific city since I was a Kid and have never had the chance to stay. So for my Birthday we got and im soo happy we did :) They are pet friendly and have a very reasonable pet fee. When we got to the motel the staff was really nice and helpful :) The only complaint I had was the mattress, it was really hard to sleep but as our luck would have it they got new ones the day we checked out!! Lol now we just have new reason to go back!! Thank you again and we will be back :)

We have stayed her off and on for nearly 20 years. It is probably the best of wha I consider 2nd tier in Pacific City, first tier will cost you more than twice as much. It is in decent shape, recently painted inside and out. Staff is very friendly. The rooms are on the small side and the beds to me are not very comfortable, I can feel the springs. It is in walking distance to a number of restaurants and about 1/2 mile to the beach. When I am in economy mode, this is the place.

We wanted a reasonable place to stay in our favorite town on the coast (laid back, not touristy or congested like others, but with enough services and a gorgeous stretch of the beach with Cape Kiwanda not far away). The beach is a short walk as are many restaurants, stores, coffee, etc. Clean comfortable rooms. Not fancy but a good value and the hosts are very nice.

Ronel, Alex and little Hudson are the proud owners of the Surf & Sand Inn. Originally from South Africa (Ronel) and France (Alex) we met in California and soon after getting married, little Hudson was born. Wanting to enjoy every single moment of life we decided to relocate our family and was fortunate to find this Inn, located in the heart of the Oregon coast in Tillamook County’s beach community of Pacific City. The Inn (formerly known as The Inn at Pacific City) has a rich history, the building dates back to 1906 and for many years served as the headquarters of the Coast Guard. For the past 22 years the Inn was ran by Doug & Patti Olsen who established a reputation for value and customer satisfaction. With our background in hospitality we are excited to continue to build on this tradition. Our 15 unit motor lodge is conveniently located within walking distance to the beach, dining, the famous Nestucca River and ample outdoor activities. We have lots of extra parking for RV’s and boats and offer bicycle storage facilities. Driving distance from Portland, Salem and the Willamite Valley this beautiful part of the State offers something special for everyone. We hope to welcome you soon and don’t hesitate to contact us with questions or for special pricing; we are at your service! Life is too short to be lived outside of Pacific City!!! ... more   less
