We go for breakfast every time we are in town. Breakfast can have quite a wait for a table, but it's always worth it! It's easy to miss though, since the building is one of only three right off the road!

Whenever we drive from Portland to the beach we pass this very small restaurant & see how busy it is - so Friday we stopped. My chowder had too much thickener in it & little flavor. The burger was good because of the homemade bun. No beer or wine. No fries - hash browns or chips instead. But the pies are excellent - at least the marionberry one was. We bought a whole pie & took it with us.

I've never had molasses bread, never even heard of it. Great! I am looking for receipes to try to recreate it, its that good. Ordered the German potato salad and hamburger, was ok, but the bread was amazing! We are from TX and used to a certain type of German food I guess. Very cozy and homey atmosphere. Seems to be family run - 2 hardworking teens!

For the record-don't ever order the full order of German potatoes unless you have a wrestling team to feed. The half is plenty. The Otis cafe is a very small restaurant with seating at the bar and maybe seven tables. Chances are you will be waiting for a table. It is worth it. My wife and I went on July 7th and it was busy as usual. When our time came, there was a table for four so we invited another young couple to join us. What a great way to meet people! We had a wonderful visit. Breakfasts ranged from the German potatoes- half order with added sausage and mushrooms smothers in cheese, to French toast made from their famous cinnamon roles, to a veggy omelet which is their most popular dish. Top it with their home made salsa and it is great. Everything is fresh and chopped that day. So we had another great experience that will keep us going back, waiting for a table and meeting new people.

We never miss a chance to the Otis Cafe on the way to coast, The food is fresh, tasty and classic diner food. We always get the German potatoes. A half order is plenty for two people to share and still have some to take home. It's just a tasty the next day, so we love to order extra. They make their own bread, which is better than their biscuits. The cinnamon roll French Toast is a heart stopper, so we just order a cinnamon roll to share at the table to avoid too much sugary goodness. Definitely one of the best breakfast/lunch stops on a trip to the coast.
