“Nice Local Place with Great Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2012

Found this on tripadvisor website. Several good reviews so we decided to give it a try. Friendly servers, in this Irish themed restaurant / pub. My wife had the Corn Beef and Cabbage sandwich which I got to try and it was great. Little more spicy than any corned beef that I have had before and very good. I had the house special chicken stuffed with Artichoke, Kale, and other goodies. It was great and a very nice sauce. Also the "Special" mashed potatoes and gravy are a good choice. IF you are a traveler and tired of the chain restaurants then give this one a try. Reasonable prices too.

“Never Again”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 2, 2012

Met a large group of friends at this restaurant, so it was not my choice, and would NOT be my choice in the future.

The atmosphere was dark and dingy, even to the point of having the light bulb burnt out in the hallway to the restrooms.

There were flys and gnats flying around our food and faces, even though it was winter time!?

The menu had alot of offerings, unfortunately, the actual food disappointed. The dinner side salads obviously came straight out of a bag and consisted of a small handful of lettuce w/ the shredded carrot & cabbage, 2 croutons and a tiny, half-slice of tomato.
The dinners offered no bread. No ice water was offered.

My prime rib was tough and left a greasy film in my mouth.
One of my co-diners was actually unable to eat his tilapia, as it was so "off".
When I asked another about his baked salmon, he advised that it is "obviously not an area to expect fresh caught".
I noted alot of food left on plates.

They do offer Pepsi products, which is a nice change of pace, although, we had to request refills, as the waitress was not very attentive, even though the restaurant was definitely not busy.

The folks who ordered desserts seemed to be satisfied with the portion and taste.

Overall, a costly disappointment. Hopefully there are better places to eat in Ontario, without having to travel to Idaho for a decent meal.

“Try the cheesecake!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2012

I've had several different dishes there and all were good. They have a decent beer selection. The staff is very friendly and service is good.

They had some fly issues in the Summer which was annoying.

The creme brulee cheesecake is awesome.

“Okay, not great”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2012

Gave this place a try after reading some of the glowing reviews on tripadvisor.com and traveling in the area.

Arrived late due to travel issues, about 8 p.m. On entering the restaurant had a musty carpet smell. Lots of kitschy decor - too much in my opinion and probably has never had the carpets cleaned due to the smell.

The restaurant was empty except for another couple. We were seated right away and the friendly waitress took our drink and appetizer order. I got the shrimp cocktail, my son the nachos. The waitress took time to warn me that they charge market price for the cocktail and it would be $18.99. WOW. I had been craving one for days so I said okay.

For entrees we ordered soup and salad ($6.99) so I felt okay with spending the big bucks on the shrimp. Another son ordered the shepherd's pie.

Waitress was quick with the shrimp, the nachos and the salads. Shrimp were big and tasted fresh, the cocktail sauce, however, was warm and even hot in one spot. Have no idea why. Had it been cold, it would have been a lot better. Salad, advertised on the menu as "house" was a a big bowl of lettuce, few croutons, one slice tomato and one slice cucumber with lots of shredded cheese on top. I got blue cheese dressing which was tasty.

When the soup arrived, potato/bacon, it was thick and so chock full of bacon bits that I actually couldn't finish it, started to be a little icked out by the texture and the sheer amount of bacon.

Shepherd's pie was not as expected. Usually see it served as a slice of pie, with the potatoes on top put under a broiler and made a little crispy. This was basically a meat mixture (with grease) on the bottom of a bowl with mashed potatoes on top and lots of shredded cheese on top that had been microwaved (I think) to get the cheese melted. Not enjoyable for my son.

Could not fault the waitress at all - she was quick and efficient, gave her 20% tip for all her effort. Food, however, was not a home run. Probably will not eat here again if I'm back in the area.
