Tonight two of us went for dinner at Local Ocean Seafood in Newport, Oregon upon the advice of the owner of the Tyee Lodge B @ B. We realized that crab season had just opened so we ordered a crab and garlic creamy chowder and it was delicious. Then we followed with a crab meat house salad and it was delicious also! LOS is a funky local fish market that also serves lunch and dinner. It is located across the street from where the local fishing fleet docks and serves whatever is fresh that day. They also had albacore, salmon and halibut on the menu as well as fish stew. The atmosphere is fun and you are right in front of the kitchen and cooks. It lacks nothing but sophistication and who cares about that when the fish is so fresh and so well-prepared? Try it!
