“Decent Fresh Seafood”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

My husband, two young children and I came here while on weekend vacation in Newport for Veteran's Day weekend. We managed to sneak in right before the lunch rush, and were seated right away. Everything looked and smelled amazing, ordered two kid-sized fish and chips and a plate of fried oysters (because we knew the kiddos would never eat much of their plates at 16 months and 2.5 years!)
There were 3 fried oysters to a $8 plate, which made it difficult to share with hubby, but it was okay. The oysters themselves were VERY local (yay!), and the breading was nice and crunchy. My favorite part was the slaw, which was dressed with vinegar instead of mayo, which was nice with the heavy-fried seafood. The fish & chips were a good portion for a big kid, heck, they were a good portion for myself and my husband!
Kids started to get a little towards the end of the meal, but luckily, the wait staff seemed friendly enough about it, and opened the front "garage" door, because it was getting so hot in there (yes, in November!)

“Go to another restaurant to eat”
Reviewed November 11, 2013

We ate there for lunch on 11/10/13. We ordered the dungeness crab soup which was the only food that was decent. I don't know why there was only a 1 inch x 1 inch piece of bread with the soup. We also ordered two crab cakes and two fish tacos. I couldn't taste any crab in the cakes, and couldn't identify the filling in the crab cakes. The "slaw" was horrible, which accompanied the crab cakes and was in the fish tacos. It was chopped cabbage with oil and chopped parsley. It was not "slaw" and left oil reside on the cakes, which I didn't finish and the fish tacos which had an oily residue. I couldn't eat it. Plus, the waitress never returned to check on us after the food was delivered. There are other places to eat in Newport. Don't bother with this restaurant. Plus, the cost was too high!!!

“Not worth the wait”
Reviewed November 9, 2013

Stopped here during the week because it was highly recommended by tripadvisor reviewers. Finding a parking place was a challenge; waited in line almost an hour; place was cramped with servers putting in extra chairs in an already small area. Service was good considering how crowed it was. Crab cakes were good; husband got tuna which was undercooked, almost raw in middle. ( I know some people like it that way; he doesn't.) Nice view of fishing boats. Expensive considering portions and how pople were packed in. Felt like sardines in a can. We prefer Georgie's compared to here.

“Talk about fresh”
Reviewed November 9, 2013

All locally harvested and sustainable seafood - they provide the name of the fishing boat. The salads are large and main dinner portions creative whether you order from the main menu or daily special - we did it all over several nights. Locals like it and recommend it for a reason. They don't take reservations and off season seating is tight but worth the wait.
