Description: Located in a home built in 1919, PANACHE has a warm and inviting atmosphere. 100 year old English pub tables add plenty of character to the dining room. PANACHE sources as much as possible locally, with the amount of local product growing month by month and uses only wild caught fish. PANACHE focuses on American cuisine that draws influence from all over Europe as well as other parts of North America. The wine list features over 40 Northwest bottles of wine. Wine is not the only diverse adult beverage as Panache also has a varied craft beer selection from light and easy drinking to dark and full of character. When Chef Zach was in Colorado he got hooked on craft spirits. PANACHE carries craft distilled spirits mainly from Oregon but a few from Europe and other US states as well.

I was a little concerned that there were no other customers in the restaurant when we arrived for Saturday lunch, but this turned out to be one of the best meals I've had at the Oregon Coast. The clams were in a creamy sauce, unusual but tasty. The housemade bread was wonderful. The crab cakes were amazing, all crab with just a little breading on the outside to hold it all together; the accompanying mango salsa also good. The crab and avocado omelette was also very fresh and well done. The only disappointment was they were out of the chocolate pots de creme, but the chocolate soufflé was worth the wait.

“Trying, but not hitting the mark”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

It's a very small place yet it took forever to not only get a menu to us, but also to serve our drinks and food. They were out of several things on the menu, so that was awkward especially given the menu wasn't that extensive to begin with. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't worth raving about either. Portions were very small, especially for the price which was really high. We didn't get what we expected. They are trying to be upscale and trendy, but failed miserably in my book.

“Exemplarary food and service”
Reviewed July 2, 2013

Four of us experienced a wonderful birthday-celebration dinner at Panache. The food was outstanding, the service was first-class, and they have a very nice wine list. The next time we visit Newport, we'll most certainly return to this great restaurant.

“Pleasant and good value, especially for a seaside resort”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

I recommend Panache, but don't go expecting "fine dining" as their website advertises. It's a nice place, good service (mostly) with fairly priced, good food.

Food - some dishes great, some average
Service - Waitress was great, but kitchen sent dishes out one at a time. If the first people served had waited for the rest of us to get our food their meals would have been cold.
Location - Nice view over the ocean
Decor - Suits the locale
Wine - Choices by the bottle seem to give a decent selection of local wines. Wines by the glass were pretty limited and not that interesting.
Price - Modest.

We were a group of seven with a reservation. The waitress took good care of us considering there were not a lot of staff. She even gave us individual bills which, in small places like Panache, is sometimes a hassle.

The kitchen provided complimentary tasters of their soups. All three were excellent, prompting a couple of us to order full bowls as appetizers. Definitely recommended.

Caesar salads were a major disappointment. Really a chopped salad with nondescript dressing. In contrast, the Butter Lettuce Wedge Salad was a big hit. Crab cakes were big and juicy, almost all fresh crab instead of the usual bread crumb fillers. Definitely recommended.

Entrees were all exceedingly large. They have a nice selection of pastas, allowing you to mix and match. Pastas with clams or mussels came with huge mounds of fresh shellfish. Both of those are highly recommended.

We didn't try the desserts, though they look good. We ordered individual glasses of wine that were pretty average.

“A Total Disaster!”
Reviewed May 29, 2013 via mobile

We are frequent diners and this was perhaps the worst and most unprofessional experience we have ever had. The food was tepid, the entrees were brought out and placed on the table before the appetizer plates were cleared and when a dish was sent back it was brought back out on the same plate. This is one place to be avoided at all cost.
