Devils Punchbowl State Natural Area

Small picnic area. Small Mo's restaurant and other assorted small shops, situated with a view of a wild hollowed-out rock formation below. But the best thing of all is the trail leading down to the 'hole' itself. Moss-covered boulders, caves, and eventually the grand entrance itself into the bowl at low tide. Nothing like it. Really. Worthy of a scene in an indie film. Once you go there, you have to go back.

We stopped here and initially were distracted by the other amazing views and on our way back to the parking lot we happened to look down and only then saw the "Punch Bowl"! It is quite close to the parking lot, so don't miss it! The views out from the top were just phenomenal. The weather was quite stormy and the tide was coming up, so we didn't try to go down to see the punch bowl from the inside, but if you're there at the right time, I'm sure it would only heighten the experience!

A must see if you are in the Newport, OR area! My only regret is not going down to the beach to get inside the punchbowl.

Took some good pictures here of the punchbowl. One of the better stops in the drive along the coast.

This was a beautiful experience. We saw the punch bowl from above and then we went down on the beach and got inside the Punch Bowl. Make sure to be very careful and find out when there is a low or high tide. Watching the tide come in and crash against the rocks is a sight not to be missed!

Walking along the beach to the Punch Bowl is a very rewarding experience in itself. You will see driftwood, seaweed, caves, rock formations, live animals in the tide pools and of course the ocean and the waves crashing along the rocks.
