Our meal had good and bad points to it so have to rate it average. The bread was disappointing. No flavor and did not seem especially fresh. The bread was in olive oil which was also fair. My husband ordered the NY steak and was disappointed in its bland flavor and toughness even though he ordered it medium rare. The caprese salad was wonderful and would order that again as the duck breast was also really good. I ordered the cup of soup which was not very interesting and very light on the vegetables.
We decided to order wines by the glass to sample more of their wines (white with our appetizers and red with our entrees). Our wines were served in the cheapest of cheap glasses. We noticed that most of the other diners ordered wines by the bottle and they all had very nice glasses. When we asked about this, the hostess said that they did not have enough glasses to go around which struck us as very flimsy. We somehow knew that if everyone in the restaurant had ordered a bottle of wine, there would be enough glasses. It was as if they were trying to shame or embarrass us with the obviously inferior glasses. Stuff like that is very offensive to discerning customers. Hopefully they will change that. Good wine in cheap glasses spoils everything.
The ambience of the restaurant is very nice and the service was excellent. I doubt that we will return to the restaurant as our experience was marginal.
