The food slection, quality and value are exceptional. The only thing that makes us think twice about going is tbeing asked o play games with other people seated on the same table. Some times we just want to go out to a nice dinner and not be obligated to socialize or entertain strangers for our supper. The food is good and we have gone back many times. Most of the time the games turn out ok but it is still a demotivator. People normally will start conversations being seated on a same table, and the obligatory game is childish, more of a burden than pleasure.

Though my husband and I were not booked to stay at the Sylvia Beach Hotel, we did reserve dinner on Christmas Day to visit a friend who was staying there. I was pleasantly surprised by the meal.

Unfortunately, I neglected to write down all the wonderful items we were served. There were apples with nuts, potato au gratin, salad, salmon, and some decadent chocolate dessert.

The meal was served family style and took nearly 3 hours! We arrived before 7PM and were informed they would ring the bell when it was time to be seated; we waited in the lobby and browsed the gift shop. We were seated with some very interesting people and the conversation was thoroughly enjoyable during the meal. We were encouraged to play a game, the rules they introduced at the beginning of the meal. It really helped to direct the conversations.

We were finally done with the meal sometime after 10PM. Don't plan to rush dinner. We paid $50 for dinner for 2 (including tip), which I suppose is about average out at the coast.

We stayed at the Sylvia and had the priviledge of eating dinner with a group of incrediably interesting people. I can honestly say it was one of the most fun evenings of my life. The food is exceptional and the people who eat at this family style restaurant are one-of-a-kind. An experience I would encourage everyone out there to have. The food is very good, but it's the company that makes TOC a truly special place. I can't wait to go back!

The game of 2 truths and a lie is not to be missed!!

Although we didn't stay at the hotel, my husband and I booked dinner at the Table of Content Restaurant, located in the hotel. The food was good, the price was reasonable, and the experience was outstanding--it was truly one of the highlights of our vacation! Dinner is a four-course, fixed price affair, and eight people are seated at each table, with the food served "family style." During the course of the meal, guest are encouraged to play "two truths and a lie," during which everyone at the table gets to know their dining companions rather well. We left the restaurant having found six new friends! What can possibly be better?
