“Stop Here”

Keep an eye out for a sign on the west side of the road on the north end of Newport. It's well worth the stop. An excellent ocean view from the point, you can climb the lighthouse, adn you can venture down to the tide pools below and see an amazing variety of sea life. It will cost you a nominal fee to get into the state park but it's well worth it.

For lighthouse lovers, this is worth a visit. You can learn a little about the history of the area, see how the lighthouse family lived and get some great views of the bay and bridge.

“Must climb to the top!”
Reviewed September 19, 2012

We made the short trek down the coast from Lincoln City to the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse and I'm glad we did. I love a lighthouse that allows you to climb the steps, and this one does! The docents dress in period clothing and give you a nice tour of the property before allowing you to ascend the gorgeous spiral staircase. I will say, it is quite possible to have fog if you go in the morning, limiting the viewing opportunity, but well worth it to see the lens, no matter what time of day/year you go!

“feel the life of a lighthouse keeper”
Reviewed September 18, 2012

As the Pacific Ocean roared below I stood at the top of the stair of the historic light house and thoughts of the many lives that had been saved by the constant guidance from the picturesque black and white monument on the hill.
