“Unique for sure”

Newport's Historic Bayfront

This is a pretty unique area of Newport. There are nice restaurants next to strange-looking small shops and stores next to fish processing plants next to museums and everything in-between. If you can't find something good to eat or drink or buy or see here, you haven't looked too hard. Don't miss the LOUD, barking sea lions.

Although we didn't tour Ripley's Believe It, Or Not, the wax museum or Undersea Gardens this trip, we did go through many of the little shops along the bayfront and got a couple of ice cream cones. It's a fun area to shop. Also, by the Undersea Gardens you can look down from a bridge and see huge sea lions making a ruckus. They were probably the best part of the bayfront. And wear your walking shoes as it's spread out over several blocks.

Lots of boutiques and shops, something for everyone! Beautiful setting with sea-lions barking in the background. Great coffee shops, ice cream, salt-water taffy....

What a fun place to spend a sunny afternoon! So many shops to browse and little eateries to enjoy. The atmosphere is wonderful! Would be a great place for families to enjoy as well as empty nesters like us :)

Stayed in Best Western in Newport, right on the beach. Decided to visit the bayfront area. We stopped in a lot of the stores, very much to see inside and out.
We parked at on end of the blvd. and just walked about half way to the other end of the blvd. We walked out on the piers and strolled along the waterfront and watched boats and fishing activities. Nice place to visit. Would return.
