Variety of shops (good food to local art) encircle the bay front. Immediately on the bay front you can watch the fishing boats come in/out and can buy fresh fish and sea-food or enjoy sit-down dining of fresh sea-food in restaraunts on the bay. Enjoy walking out on the dock and 'talk' to the sealions that bask in the sun and 'bark' at each other as they squeeze in on the floating docks.

Combination of retail and commercial made it interesting to visit. Loved the sea lions barking beside one of the piers. Nice restaurant choices. Walking distance from many hotels. Will go there again.

A three block strip of gift shops and tourist attractions that is fun to observe. We alway at least drive through the district. There is a "wood" craft/artist gallery shop that is very good and of high quality along with lots of typical souvenier shops. Further along is the working fishing port of Newport.

We always enjoy wandering down through the historic Bayfront area. There are so many fun shops and restaurants. It's always of interest watching the fishing boats coming in and offloading their catch. Many colorful characters as well. Probably the only thing I dislike about the area is the shortness of parking spaces - especially for those who are handicapped and need the extra room for wheelchairs and the like.

One could spend lots of space here describing the myriad of unique shops, everything from restaurants to nautical stuff to amazing artwork, but don't forget to look up! There are over a dozen building-sized murals of nautical scenes scattered over about 4 blocks, truly impressive not only in their sheer size but level of detail. I'd been going to the bayfront since 1972, many of these murals were painted in the 1990s, but it was just this past summer when I paused to really appreciate how much they add to the atmosphere of the area!
