We always love stopping here when we can. It's great getting to watch the octopus up close. During this particular visit, the octopus was extremely active. There were a few groups of school children having a great time with their teachers and all the hands-on experiments. Our only disappoint was the fact the book store area seemed to be closed for an overhaul. Hopefully it will be open the next time we visit.

A different world from the aquarium, but also about $15 cheaper. The Science Center has many on hands displays for kids and enough other exhibits to keep adults interested too. Best kept secret is about 100 PHD researchers work out of this center from U of O. It truly is a great asset to Newport and a good alternative for those on a budget or with a big family and can't afford the aquarium.

I go to Waldport and Newport often but have never gone here. I found out about it on this site and was pleasantly surprised. My boys, 1 & 3 and our friends kiddos ages 3 & 6 had fun. The octopus feeding at 1 pm was neat! It was Marine Science day so it was crowded but otherwise I'd highly suggest it, it's fun and cheap $20/ family (suggested donation).

Was very interesting and had many fish to view up close and personal. Many hands on displays. Very informational. Takes 2 plus hours to see every thing.

The Live Octopus ~ This is a must for the kids & adults. Hands on to touch sea life with a guide to tell you information and exhibits you interact with. Lots of other very interesting things to do.
