My boyfriend an I came here on a mission: I'd read about this bar's drink called the Spicy Po Boy- PBR, garlic-Serrano pepper vodka, and Clamato- and was determined to try it. We each had two; they were delicious! Very garlicky, but we happen to like that. There was only one other table of people- locals- having a drink. They have a great view of the bay. We didn't eat, but all the staff greeted us, even the guys in the kitchen. Our bartender was friendly. It was late, but they all asked if we'd like to eat, rather than dreading having people walk in. Their menu did look and sound tasty; we will make a point to have a meal there during out next visit!

We arrived late Wednesday afternoon and were surprised to find most restaurants in town closed. Apparently they were restocking after the Wine Festival earlier in the week. Bay 839 was open so we decided to give it a try. We frequently order Fish and Chips. Hands down the Fish and Chips at Bay 839 were the best! Fresh Cod and a light batter allowed the fish to stand on its own. A lot of Fish and Chips tend to be mostly batter and mystery fish. The only downside was the service. At any given time during our meal there was no more than 6 people dining in the whole restaurant/bar. The waitress chatted with friends and toward the end of our meal forgot us completely. We were seated in her line of sight. We could see her doing her chores behind the bar, cleaning/organizing etc.... Finally, I took the bill up and asked her to please close us out. I politely mentioned the meal was fantastic but the service was too slow. She proceeded to protest and at one point commented on the number of drinks (3) my boyfriend consumed.
Great food, not so great service.

We were a little shocked when we first walked up to bay 839's front door. It dosn't look like much more than a shack. It is though! The inside is beautiful and the food is great. Alexis was a great server and helped us with everything we needed. This place is literally right on the bay and has wonderful food. We will be back on our next trip to newport thank you bay 839!

We came in after a movie, it was late, about 8pm. There was only one other table with a party of four that didn't have food and a table that was about to leave. It took an hour to get our food. Was looking forward to enjoying our meal but had to box it up and get home. Very disappointing. And the blackened chicken was burnt, not blackened.

Stopped in after a power walk on the beach. Seating was great with a view of the bay. Watching football, playing scrabble, drinking yummy bloody Mary's. Crabcakes, greens and chowder hit the spot. It was a win - win afternoon!
