“Tapas and much, much more!”
Reviewed June 25, 2012

Stopped by out of curiosity and fell in love. Tapas restaurant so expect small portions and plan accordingly. Amazing stuffed dates, salmon pate, and Bocadillo. Adequate clam chowder greatly enhanced by using excellent bread as a spoon. Will be back for dinner in a day or so!

“Moth balls smell- horrible food!”
Reviewed June 22, 2012

I have eaten there 3x now and I won't be going back. The second time we went we were listening to a band play in the middle room and a rat ran through the room. We were told it's normal and they are "warf" rats and all the restaurants on the bay front hAve them. That is not true. So we didn't go back for 6 months. Tonight we go and the only thing I have ever ordered there is the fish tacos and this is now the 3rd way they have been cooked so never consistant. Fries were greasy and tortilla was stale and hard. The server was talking to her friend about how great her dye job was and running her fingers through her hair and then started telling her friend that her boyfriend lost a bet and had to shave his head and she was so mad and was already PMSing so it made it much worse. The place stinks and has young kids working there and half of them are siting in front of the kitchen talking about how much they are not making in tips. Save your money and keep driving past this dump!

“Bay Blvd is a hard place to run a restaurant.”
Reviewed March 31, 2012

The service is very good. However, the smoked salmon on crustini was simply poor. Not only was the crostini soft, but the smoked salmon pâté spread on it was reminiscent of a tuna sandwich. A bad one at that.

“Late night hours at Bay 839”
Reviewed March 18, 2012

We were very happy that this little hole in the wall was open late, because the rest of the town had shut down. The service was great and we loved the relaxed atmosphere! We lounged around on the oversized couches sipping decadent wine and richeous deserts! Late night hours are where it's at. Thanks Bay 839. See you next time!

“Hit and miss!!!”
Reviewed March 16, 2012

I grew up in Newport and was so pleasantly surprised when this place opened the menu looked awsome and the drink menu looked very interesting. My husband and I love to go out and at first we were not disappointed lately though it seems to be very hit and miss the menu is still the same but depending on the cook can be very good or just plain sad....its to expensive of a place to be hit and miss they have so much potential that I find it sad when I go and the food isn't as good as previous visits. The same can be said about the servers u can get great attentive servers or servers u have to hunt don't because they never stop by...we love bay 839 bar and really hope they step up their game and get that consistency that will make them the 1st choice restaurant on the bayfront
