“Good time had by all”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

We held a wedding rehearsal dinner at Nana's and highly recommend this noisy, fun, busy place! Everyone was happy with their food selections ranging from pot pies to bangers and mash to the kids and their toasted cheese sandwiches. Server was patient, efficient, and got every order right - and brought my starving granddaughter yummy bread and butter to munch on until dinner arrived! We appreciated the attention as well as the good, hot food and always full glasses. No complaints - just highly recommend this restaurant!

“Great place...could use a bit more atmosphere.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

The food was fantastic - I had the shepherd's pie, my wife the chicken pot pie. Both were savory and delicious. The shepherd's pie wasn't quite traditional - the taters on top were cubed rather than mashed, but it was delicious. The soda bread on the side was tender and tasty - probably the best I've had. Smithwick's on tap was another plus in my book!

The only thing I missed was a bit more atmosphere. I would have loved to have Celtic music playing in the background or perhaps a bit more Irish flair. There was also a man carrying instruments back and forth through the restaurant the whole time we were there - kind of distracting, but I wish we'd stayed a bit longer to hear the band!

“Great little restaurant, crowded”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

Have been here several times and always good....However, this time we went for lunch and it was very crowded and normal entrance blocked....Almost too crowded/loud to be enjoyable....Corned beef hash special was great; corned beef sandwich was a bit skimpy compared to what we've had in the past...Overall, things looked a bit dingy; maybe because of so many people in a small space, but I had sort of an eye-brow-raising feeling this time.....Not up to usual excellent review..just okay this time. Could use a deep cleaning and more wait staff!

“Always a great stop in Newport!”

Love their food here. They make their own corned beef. Recommend the corned beef sandwich, the pot pies, soups and Scotch eggs. Enjoy!

“Generous Portions, Great Taste”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2013

We stayed at the Elizabeth Inn and this restaurant is an easy 15 minutes walk from there. We were surprised at the depth of the menu. The service was fast and friendly. I had the corned beef. It was excellent. The portions are generous. The place is larger than it looks and also offers outside dining. Prices are moderate...especially considering the size of the portions.
