“Wine and more at Le Puy”
Reviewed October 8, 2013

Lea and Andy's inn is outstanding! Their attention to detail is what makes it so good! From the wineries that recommended to the views and breakfasts - it could not have been better.

Inspired: Lea and Andy!

Pro: their recommendations were fantastic, location, home is amazing, DVD
library in the Loire Room, amazing breakfasts, Taste of Willamette package, Hike and Sip package, other guests were great as well

Con: nothing

Return: yes - cannot wait!

Discovered: via Tripadvisor - thanks

Room Tip: Any will be wonderful

My wife and I spent 2 nights at Le Puy last week as part of our "mini-moon" following our destination wedding. Andy and Leah couldn't have been nicer hosts who made us feel incredibly at home throughout our stay. They do an immaculate job of keeping their property very welcoming for guests, from their beautiful, clean common spaces to the well-maintained, well-appointed bedrooms (each with private bathroom).

Our room, "Water", is on the lower level, facing the front of the property with sensational views towards the Chehalem Mountains. It was so relaxing to enjoy a bottle of wine out on the room's terrace with landscaped fountain, savoring the view.

Andy and Leah prepare daily breakfast, which was not only delicious but also a great way to meet other guests at the inn. We met some great folks from throughout the country enjoying their stay, which only enhanced our experience staying at Le Puy.

My wife and I have very little experience staying at bed & breakfast or inns, but this was such a pleasure that we certainly recommend Le Puy to anyone looking for a nice, clean, friendly place to stay in the Willamette Valley.

Room Tip: There are only 8 rooms at the inn. Andy and Leah provide excellent descriptions and pictures of eac...

My husband and I indulged in two very pampered, relaxing nights at this beautiful inn. Our room, Water, was on the ground floor with a gorgeous view of the Chehalem ridge. When we arrived, Andy was on hand to greet us and show us to our room. We quickly took to "our" terrace with abandon... where we returned each evening to admire the expansive view after winery visits to Domaine Drouhin, Penner Ash, and J.K. Carriere (all worth visiting). As other reviewers have noted, Andy and Lea are at the top of their game when it comes to amenities; whatever we may have desired was available, from a makeup mirror, DVD player, small fridge, wine goblets, dishes, and cutlery in the room to excellent brewed coffee in the great room and a large-screen TV in the Loire room for watching baseball. I could go on and on... super-comfy bed, nice linens, white noise machine, diverse indoor/outdoor seating areas, gorgeous landscaping, etc. Plus, the brilliant gourmet breakfasts were outstanding! This couple has thought of everything and they deserve endless praise for the work they have put into this lovely Wine Country retreat. We didn't avail ourselves of it, but for those who don't want to drink and drive, taxi service will take you to excellent restaurants in the valley. A thoroughly recommended inn.

Room Tip: All the rooms are gorgeous

I haven't had much experience with B&Bs but I have to say Lea and Andy have set the bar very high in this one. Their friendly advice on wineries and restaurants was invaluable. We stayed in "Earth" and loved it. This is a fairly new property and is in perfect condition. The little things like hazelnuts and sea-salt caramel chocolates daily, along with quality tall stem Pinot glasses in the room, are a nice touch. As are the gourmet breakfasts in the dining room overlooking the Chehalem Ridge. It's easy to see why this property gets near perfect scores - it made for a memorable experience.

Room Tip: We stayed in "Earth" and loved it.

Am writing this review from my porch overlooking wine country in the "thunder" room at le puy. My husband and I are here for 2 nights before he has a work meeting in Portland. We knew nothing about the area and have been nothing but pleasantly surprised at every turn. From the second we got to le puy, we have been treated as very valued guests by Andy and Lea...the room is stunning, the local recommendations are top notch and the included breakfast ( which I didn't even realize was included) was delicious! If you have had a long day of wine tasting and want to stay in, there are plenty of DVDs to choose from and no reason to leave. Although there isn't a restaurant on site, the inn isn't far from downtown newberg and a local cab is $10 each way. Based on the tranquility and beauty of the room and setting, we are enjoying a relaxing evening on our balcony with local wine and cheese and feel no need to leave. If we did, Andy would make reservations wherever we wanted...

As a bonus, if you need a driver to take you around wine country, call winecountrycarservice.com and request Phil. Knowing nothing about the area, we 100% followed his recommendations and they all were great!! All in all, a great place to get away from the everyday hustle and enjoy....

Room Tip: We stayed in thunder.....has a huge front facing deck ( same as the main lobby but private) and grea...

Le Puy is a little piece of heaven in the beautiful Willamette Valley. From the delicious breakfasts with local ingredients and jams to the evening treats awaiting you after a "hard" day of wine tasting it provides rest, extravagance and an opportunity to relax. The hosts, Andy and Leah were not only delightful but full of great suggestions for dining out or grabbing a picnic to enjoy at one of the many vineyards in the region. The Willamette is a spectacular area of the Pacific Northwest and Le Puy is central accommodation that is charming, comfortable and makes one want to go back again.

Room Tip: All rooms are nice. We were on the bottom floor and it was very quiet. I believe our room was called...

This is our 2nd visit to the area, and our first to Le Puy. I've travelled extensively in my life and this is the best stay in any of the US wine country areas I've visited from California to Washington. Andy met us as we arrived. He gave us a tour of our rooms and the place was spotless with new furniture and baths. Andy and Lea are architects and they have put amazing touches throughout the Inn. My wife and I stayed in the "Heaven" room and my brother & sister in law stayed in the "Water" room. Our room had room for all 4 of us to share wine & cheese inside after our days of winery visits. Each of these rooms also had a back porch at ground level overlooking the valley... providing a beautiful view of wine country. Breakfast every morning was included, and wow, what a great breakfast it was every morning. Andy and Lea accommodated my food allergies every day during our stay. You can watch movies in your rooms, but if you want to catch a game on TV, you must use the activity room which has a large flat screen. We didn't use this much but several of the visitors did.

In summary, this Inn may cost a little more than some of the others in the area, but when you think about it, most folks visit to buy wine and enjoy it with friends. For about the same cost as 2 bottles of good wine per day, you should upgrade to this Inn. You won't regret it... and It will be one of the highlights of your visit.

Room Tip: We loved the "Heaven" room
