After a week in Portland we where ready to chill in Newberg. My only complaint was that I had a great view of a staircase. Avoid room 104 (and 102 was the other bad view if memory serves). We got the room at a discount so no major gripes for lack ov view and we were rarely there. Staff was completely professional and very friendly. We ate at Jory a few times and the lunch was pefect, dinner very good. We backed out on desert and tge female waitress brought into s desert at no charge due to the fact that it was our 10th anniversary. Very nice touch and led us to two more meals at Jory. After staying the previous week at the the portland westin, it was the first good nites sleep we got. The room was large as was the safe (big enough for 17" lap top). The was a removable room partition between the bed and bath, w seperate lav, and two sinks. Great shower and even better soaps. Heavy roomdarkener shades on the french doors by the bed and dual power shades on the over sized window. Also timer on the gas log. This place reminded me of tge cottages at the Ventana inn in Big Sur, but probably roomier. As a bonus Lexus was showing off thier 2014 line up, and we had the choice of a GS460 hybrid or IS 350 convertible. We took the GS. Very upscale interior but no balls. My wife drives a BMW twin turbo 550xi and I drive a 392 cubic inch Chrysler 300 SRT8. The valets said they had Panameras the week before (too bad, our loss). Anyway the local pinots are all good and I would highly recomend the Painted Lady for dinner (along w advanced reservations) based on our two dinners there. I would rec the 5 course vs the 7 course, although it changes regularly. Same menu the three couple weeks we spent I n the portland/newberg area.

Dear chubbilicious,

Thank you for your detailed review and we are so happy you enjoyed your stay. Our terrace level rooms all have views of our gardens, including rooms 102 and 104. If you do look out to the right in those rooms you can see the outside of our glass enclosed spiral staircase. Many of our guests love those rooms but you will be happy to know we have may variations in room and view type to match each guests hopes.

We also feel very fortunate to have a brand partnership with Lexus. This provides an opportunity for our guests to experience their cars including an extended test-drive if available (up to four hours). I fear we may have failed you in your orientation to the GS450h, if you change the dial to sport+ mode you would find that it has some power to spare, but maybe the best part of this partnership is the opportunity for each person to try these cars and make their own assessment absent a sales pitch!

Thank you again for your positive review and if you ever find yourself staying again I would love to say hello, maybe we can talk you into trying another Lexus!

Sincerely,
Steve Hurst

My daughter, daughter-in-law, her mother and I spent a weekend at the Allison Inn, and had the most wonderful time. We enjoyed a wine tour in the area, and a day of spa treatments, and couldn't have asked for more relaxation. The fall colors were lovely, and the Allison Inn was exquisite. The staff was friendly and more than accommodating. The Jory restaurant was first class. I highly recommend a getaway to the Allison!

Dear Lorrie768,

Thank you for writing this review. We love our "girls weekend" guests and think we have the perfect property for it. Spa, pool, wine, food and spacious rooms for relaxation and catching up. The fall colors were amazing this year and it is hard to imagine a better time to visit. Of course a rainy getaway in January sure sounds like a perfect spa/culinary getaway too!

We hope to see you again soon.

We stayed 4 nights at this gorgeous boutique hotel and loved everything there. No expense has been spared and the design and comfort are wonderful. The grounds have lots of walking paths and the landscaping is beautiful. The staff continually asked to help and were always accommodating. A trip to the Oregon wine country should definitely include a stop here in Newberg. Dinner at The Painted Lady is a real treat --prix fixe including wines -a must!!

Room Tip: We were on the ground floor, overlooking the gardens and found it excellent. Higher level rooms are...

We had terrace room (1st floor). Room was spacious w/fireplace. Bathroom was nice size w/separate tub and shower. Each room comes with small basket of goodies and some bottled water. The chocolate covered hazelnuts were amazing. Wi Fi was very good.

They have morning coffee bar which was very nice.

Grounds are a beautiful walk in the AM.

Valet was very prompt. Staff was very helpful. Thanks for the tape and markers so we could secure our 2 boxes of wine to check with luggage. We asked hotel about shipping them but it was $250!

Hotel is a bit pricey but it's worth the money. Location is near so many wineries. Having Jory onsight is convenient. It's also just a short drive to the Painted Lady which I highly, highly recommend.

We arrived in Newburg just as Oregon felt the wrath of the tail end of a Typhoon. It rained buckets for the full four days of our stay. Though we didn't get to enjoy any of the outside amenities, we were very impressed with all amenities indoors. Arrival staff were fantastic in getting us all set up, then even helping fix our cable TV reception the following day, when it apparently got knocked o by lightning in the area. The lounge had great food and a very good craft beer and wine selection. Staff were extremely accommodating as we took drinks to our room at times to keep up on TV sports events (did I mention it rained a lot). Rooms were large and very comfortable, spa was very reasonably priced and beautifully laid out and parking onsite was convenient. Though not cheap, I think the Inn is well worth the expense.

Just a wonderful property, with a minor issue. It is an actual working vineyard for the first time this year. We took some great pictures of the staff picking grapes!!
The rooms are very spacious with a balcony, the bathroom wonderfully appointed. The only complaint that I have is directed to housekeeping and the front desk reaction to the issue.
We were out from 9am and when we returned close to 4pm, our room was not cleaned. We called down to the front desk to let them know that our room was still not cleaned. The reply given was the housekeeping staff was "busy". Now, I do not really expect as a guest to be told that the staff is too busy to clean our room. This is not a good way to handle an issue, it only incited the situation. The woman then asked if we still wanted "turn down service". My husband laughed and asked her why we would need turn down when the bed was not even made. Was she even listening? Perhaps an in service is needed. The actual housekeeping "service" does a fine job,,,,once they get there.
On the other hand, the young man who parked our car went over and above giving us a google map when we left that evening. We had asked in the am about directionless to a local restaurant.
Even given the minor issue, this is a wonderful place to stay and I would go back.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room away from the valet area

The Allison room rates went up this year. Their website offers no special rates, but AAA members should know that they may receive a discount by contacting the Allison reservations desk in person.

When we arrived mid-week during a slow period, the people at the check-in desk were nice, but could not give us the room we reserved months in advance, with no explanation.

The room is well appointed and very comfortable. Housekeeping and turn-down service were spotty.

The surrounding area, pool and spa are wonderful. Parking is convenient and, for now, free.

Dining at Jory was decent. However, the reservation we made in advance was lost. The food was good, but not in our opinion worth the high price. We never found the executive chef actually to be in the kitchen. The mark-up on liquor, wine and champagne was quite hefty.

We contacted management regarding some issues we experienced, but all they would do or say was 'sorry we do not guarantee anything, but try us again next time.'

Sorry but there will be no next time for us. We believe the Allison and Jory charge high prices because they can, as the only 'game in town' so to speak, but do not in our opinion deliver the goods.

Dear Irenita,

I am so sorry that your experience was anything short of perfect. It has become increasingly difficult to take vacations in our society and when we do find, or make time we all expect everything to be perfect, and deservedly so. In this case, a stream of misses amounts to an overall experience that is not what we want you to experience during that hard earned break!

We do have AAA rates available most of they year, but admittedly it isn't every day. Our parking is free and we have no plans to change that, we live far from the city and have ample parking available. On topic, we are a resort with no resort fee (some resorts charge a mysterious resort fee ranging from $25-$50 or more), free wifi, free snacks and water in the room, free bath salts, and the list keeps growing.

This does not change your experience, and I am sincerely apologetic for that. Our team carries tremendous pride in our product and services; I am unsure of the manager you spoke with but the answer you received is not our style, and I will address this with our team in hopes of avoiding such responses in the future.

Thank you for visiting us and thank you for the time given to write this review. We value these opportunities to grow and while we are fallible I am always disappointed when a guest sees us as so.

Sincerely,
Steve Hurst
