“Perfect Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2012

My wife and I spent one night at The Allison as we traveled the Pacific Northwest. Everything was perfect. The room was spacious with an amazing view of the grounds. The service was impeccable. It was my wife's birthday, and per my request, a bottle of wine was waiting in our room upon arrival with a very nice card wishing her a happy birthday. Everyone was incredibly nice and helpful. When my wife wanted to swim early in the morning, the staff opened the pool for her even though it was before hours. Her massage with Ashley was outstanding. The food at Jory was great, as was the service. Before we left, we borrowed a Lexus from the hotel (as The Allison has a partnership with Lexus) and drove around Newberg. The vineyards are gorgeous, and it was a wonderful way to finish our stay. Overall, this is the place to stay if you want truly outstanding service. The Allison takes guest comfort to a level unmatched by other hotels.

We had read about this hotel in several magazines and it was worth all the hype. From the moment we walked in the staff could not have been any nicer. We were celebrating a special occasion and they had a bottle of rose wine in the room waiting for us. We had a basic room and it was very large and luxurious. There was also a patio with access to the beautiful grounds that we walked around. We had drinks on the hotel's main terrace as there was a complimentary wine tasting. After that we had dinner at Jory. We had a reservation and tried to sit down early, but they made us wait. This was a little odd considering the plethora of empty tables. The food was excellent although it took a very long time for the main course to arrive. We only wish we had more than one night there!

We just wanted to drop a quick note to let you know, when we read your review, we started observing some of the management practices in the restaurant, and took the opportunity to establish some new standards of procedure, staffing levels, and a few other improvements that should resolve the issue in the dining room. The tables were available, but at the time we were understaffed, which obviously caused slight issues with being able to accommodate our guest's needs! Of course, that isn't acceptable, so we really appreciate how your review helped our operations. It will only serve to help us improve, so that your return will even be a better experience. We are thrilled that you would come back to our wine country, and visit again - so we wanted to be sure to let you know that the issue you encountered in the restaurant will have been smoothed out. Thank you again, and we hope this finds you well. Until your return, cheers!

Sincerely,
Michael | Online Concierge

A Totally beautiful hotel..the rooms, the public spaces, gardens, and the services were all first class!

We loved the balcony and fireplace in the room. Plus the bed was super comfortable.
The Spa and pool area were all wonderful.

Dinner at the Jory Restaurant was great too.

One suggestion, the hotel concierge could have been more knowledgeable about directions/reservations/winery suggestions/bike rentals/etc.. or they could have a small business/computer area for clients to quickly printout local info. and maps, etc

But overall a great place to stay! I'd go back again.

We have a laptop at the desk you can check out, if you need to peruse the web and look up any information. It's often that people travel with their own devices, and the need for a fully dedicated business center is not what it once was - but we listened to your advice, and wanted to let you know we have the ability to let you not only borrow a laptop and make your own plans and decisions, we have a "cloud" printer, where you can print any and everything from that laptop (or your own laptop, mobile phone, etc), just by searching for it and printing to that printer. The desk can help make that easier, and walk you through it. Our concierge apologizes she couldn't help more, but typically they are fully informed and ready to talk for hours. Pardon us for slipping on that! But we heard your suggestions, and whole heartily agreed. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. Cheers, and be well!

Sincerely,
Michael | Online Concierge

The Allison Inn has it all. Beautiful room, delicious food, and gorgeous spa. This is the only place to stay in Oregon wine country. Sip great wine or cocktails on the veranda; enjoy delicious food at Jory; and enjoy the ambiance of understated luxury in the entire resort. This place has it all.

Room Tip: We stayed in the spa level on the end. Never heard a peep: above, below or outside. Every hotel sh...

Everything about this inn and spa was excellent. The room was fabulous. Breakfast and dinner at the restaurant, Jory, were delicious. The spa treatment was outstanding. The grounds and facilities were beautiful. Many other nice touches. One of the nicest places I have ever stayed. I would highly recommend the Allison if you're in the area.

We stayed 2 nights at The Allison Inn as a mini-vacation and came back to the city and work refreshed as if we'd taken a whole week. It's located on the apron of the hills at the edge of Newberg, quiet and peaceful, with a beautiful building and gardened grounds. From the second you walk through the doors held open by the smiling valets, the front desk personnel welcome you warmly. Even the phone calls to make the reservation were friendly and helpful. Our room was a king bed mini suite with a patio and window seat sofa, spacious bathroom with separate toilet, tub and shower. We had breakfast in the room one morning at our dining table. We decompressed on the bar balcony with a refreshment and nuts, thoroughly enjoyed the excellent live jazz on Friday and Saturday nights, the fitness room and pool/jacuzzi. The Jory restaurant is superb whether you sit inside or out. We drove to vineyards during the day - tons of them close by. This place is expensive but absolutely worth it.

Absolutely beautiful architecture and well manicured grounds were the first things we noticed driving up to the Allison. Then, the personal touches of service that the staff, from the men that held the door open to the chefs in the kitchen were an outstanding plus. We enjoyed Lunch on the patio deck overlooking the valley and came back for dinner the next night to sit at the bar looking into the kitchen. Great Experience! Looking forward to our next visit. We toured vineyards for three days and the Allison was a welcome home sight. Loved the pool, the running water fountains and mostly the calm atmosphere of the hotel.
