“Great location and helpful management”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2013

We chose the Edgewater to hold a family reunion in July of 2013. It was a wonderful location with spectacular views of the bay. Connie, the manager, was very helpful. Our family filled up all of the condos(except 1) cabins and cottages for a couple of days and Connie helped other family members find lodging nearby within walking distance. She and her staff also helped moved picnic tables around so that we could have a large family BBQ and loaned some of her own large cooking supplies to help out.
I believe she is a new manager there and so take that in mind while searching past review.
Netarts is a small, quiet beach town that reminds me of the 1950's. There are not a slew of tourists and it is very relaxing, however it is only about 6 miles away from Tillamook if you are looking for more activity.
The Condos were modern, clean and comfortable. The view from the deck was very nice. There is access to the beach down a steep, winding path. Those of us who are older watched our steps but made it down okay. It was no problem for the younger crowd.
There isn't a meeting room at the Edgewater but there is a community hall that can be rented which is only a couple of blocks away.
It turned out to be a good place for the reunion and I would recommend it to others.

Room Tip: If you like modern and a view, rent one of the condos. Otherwise the cabins and cottages are less e...

Forgot to submit this last Fall... Seems like they're still up to the same crap!

Wow, what can I say... We were looking forward to seeing the ocean and drove over 1700 miles to get here. Nice views, but trouble started upon arrival. It seems like the managers feel it is the vacationeers job to completely clean the place. If it isn't done, they don't refund a $150 damage charge they add to your credit card upon checking in. The real kicker is that if the last resident didn't do it, the managers seem to think they don't have to.

When we arrived there was a horrible dead crab smell in the fridge. In one of the drawers was smelly crab slop. When we cited this, the manager wiped out the drawer and left. The thing still stunk to high heaven. We proceeded to clean for at least two hours (crumbs in the drawers, dust everywhere, stinky fridge etc.) The female manager came over and when we told her it still smelled and were cleaning, she went and got some cleaning solutions and spray bottles and brought them over. She seemed to think that this was our problem to clear up. She just didn't get it.

I've included pics of their "cleaning check list" If you're thinking about coming, be prepared to do tons of cleaning before leaving and probably lose some money in then end too. I called and talked with the male manager and he had a list of similar things (to others on their inspection) we missed and wasn't concerned at all about crab smells and the dust etc that was there when we arrived.

All in all, the view and beach were fun, but their attitude and extra charges have inspired us to write this scathing review. Seems like they just don't get how to treat customers and run a resort that makes people want to come back. I suppose they will also reply to this review with lots of excuses and accusations. One review might be an unreasonable customer, but as these pile up there seems to be a pattern that might be a warning for future visitors.

The owners are attempting to keep my security deposit. Frankly the place was cleaner when I left than when I arrived. The place is a bit smelly, and overall promises views and access to things (like crab cookers) that either aren't available or cost extra.

If you grew up mid-century in the Northwest, and took road trips with your family, you will recognize the Northwest cottage style in the kitchenette cottages of the Edgewater. They are quaint, comfortable, clean, and reasonably priced. The grounds have pretty, cottage style flower gardens, and well-tended lawns. The condos are new and very nice, and perch on the edge of the cliff, with an amazing view.

The walk to the beach is down a lush, green, salal and honeysuckle lined path, which opens onto a quiet, long expanse of beach. For being so close to Portland, the beaches are amazingly uncrowded, and peaceful; this beach does not have the crush of humanity that you would experience at SoCal beaches! You will see families together, lots of people out walking their dogs, crabbers and people fishing in the bay, clamming at low tide, and a thriving population of shore birds.

The Edgewater is in a tiny village with a local store that serves an amazing, locally caught ling cod burger. Next to the grocery store is an eccentric "what not" store that is fun to browse. A mile walk down the beach takes you to the quintessential seaside village of Oceanside. Start early and walk to Roseanne's for breakfast!

Finally, as a single traveler, I found the owner/managers of the Edgewater to be kind, helpful, hard working, and dedicated to making my stay a worry-free, relaxing experience, and I was there at the height of the tourist season! Netarts is one of my favorite places in the world, and I always go back to the Edgewater-I am never disappointed.

Room Tip: If you want new and modern, choose a condo-if you want less expensive, go with a cottage; they are n...

We rented condo A for 2 nights. The views were breath taking! The condo was super clean and very well stocked for cooking. We had a beautigul rock fireplace in our room and a balcony as well overlooking the ocean and bay! We made good use of the two person Jacuzzi tub :) very relaxing! We chose to let the house keepers do the cleaning and yes we did have $28 bucks taken from our $150. cleaning deposit but it was worth it and the fee was in no way hidden. We were given a cleaning list in case we wanted to do the cleaning and the managers said it was just to ensure if we wanted our deposit back we would get it...but we were on vacation and did not feel like cleaning so we did not. We asked Wayne and Annastasia the managers about places to go as we were continuing our vacation for another week. Annastasia suggested we go to Edgefield over in Troutdale....amazing...thank you so much Annastasia for the refferal! Wayne suggested we go to Cold Springs Resort in Camp Sherman....WOW! we hit the trifecta! Thank you Wayne! We have now found our 3 new favorite places to go! Im sorry some poeple feel the need to only write about the bad, but while we were at the Edgewater we visited with other guests...Sara and Justin in E...thanks for sharing your steaks your a great cook Justin! All in all I found the Edgewater and the managers to be purely delightful! Netarts is like a quiet hidden beach. We enjoyed every moment of our stay! We will most deffinately be back A LOT! And thanks again for all the wonderful advice on where to go...Rosanna's Cafe was exactly as you said...great home made food with amazing desserts!!!

Room Tip: Condo A has windows all down the south side so you not only have the ocean view but the bay view as...

We stopped here as we were exhausted and didn't want to take the time to read Trip Advisor Reviews. Big Mistake. We were in Cabin 1. It had an ocean view. The best part of the experience was the view and the access to the ocean. There were two access walkways to the ocean. The one on the right as you face the ocean is the nicer one to take. Still, it can be slippery due to the sand. Watch your step as you go down to the ocean. The other walk way required climbing over some large rocks to get from the end of the stairs to the beach. Not a great idea for seniors. The front desk person was all business/no small talk. He let us look at the cabin before we paid for it. It was very old fashioned, dark paneling in the bedrooms. Tiny Jack and Jill bath between the two bedrooms. It was clean. However, it had a strong odor. You had to open the windows from time to time to get some fresh air. The beds were fair. We paid over $100 for the room on a Sunday night, and I didn't think it was a great value for that price. There was a note that said that if we didn't wash the dishes, we should leave $5 for the maid. Not an unreasonable request, but I thought for the money we paid, and since there was no dishwasher, it was a little odd. The brochure for the place doesn't really reflect the cabin we stayed in. There was a condo on this property, too, but they wanted well over $200 for that, and it was not in our budget. I don't know anything about this part of the property.

Edgewater used to be a quaint little get-away until the owner blocked the ocean view by building a big, ugly condo in front of the cabins. The whole place is getting increasingly ramshackle and the rooms are dilapidated and somewhat smelly. Management was rude and unhelpful. There are much better motels, at competive prices, nearby.

Room Tip: The condo building may be better but forget the cabins.
