I definitely had a good time when I was here. My boyfriend and I had the beach mostly to ourselves for the short time we were there. I can't imagine it in summertime though. It would probably be a zoo and not worth it. The views on the drive in were totally gorgeous and we had to stop a couple of times to take it all in. But the campsite itself was extremely public, zero privacy from the neighbour. I mean if you want a more community feel then maybe it's right up your alley :) The man at the check in was very sweet.

We visit Nehalem Bay State Park every year. It has nice RV spots, great camp hosts and miles of beach to walk. The sand dunes are a bit hard to climb up and over to reach the beach, but once there this beach is one of the most unspoiled and quiet. For those of us who don't want a lot of people. We love it and Manzanita. We like to stay with the back of our site to the horse camp. Allows us to have more privacy and we like the sounds of the horses.

Nehalem Bay State Park has long been a favorite of ours. It always seems to be much less crowded than some of the more popular beaches such as Ecola or Cape Lookout, even though it is located just a couple of miles south of Manzanita.

Our most recent visit occurred during a blustery March weekend and we basically had the place to ourselves. Let the dog off the leash to stretch her legs, and we admired all the new driftwood on the beach after the winter storms. Perfect conditions for a nice walk on the beach! Having a fire in one of the fire rings on the bay side near the boat launch completed a nice visit.

Had a great time camping here for 3 nights. Big campground with all the amenities. Not a lot of privacy, but you don't expect that in large state campgrounds. Beautiful beach.

We've stayed here off-and-on for forty-ish years. We live in the area now and still visit the park because of its trails, day use area, boat launch, horse rides and ranger programs. Friends with big families are sent here as a home-away-from-home, sometimes using our equipment to convince them to try camping. A few have used the yurts: good choice when you want to travel lighter. Sitting on the dunes in the summer, you can watch the moon rise as the sun sets, and see the stars and planets pop into view. The sites are screened by trees for the most part. Although one must be careful of the riptides, there is plenty of beach for swimming, kayaking, parasailing, running, hiking, riding whatever, kite-flying, disc-throwing, volleyball, exercising your dog ON A LEASH, spread-your-blanket-out and read or whatever... Did I mention there's loads of room? ...and relative quiet? Walk to the jetty, bike into Manzanita or Nehalem, hike the woods, do a little geocaching... the activities seem endless. The staff is helpful, courteous and friendly, and can tell you about many other places to visit up and down the coast. There is a seasonal information center. A pavilion is available for large groups. One of the best State Park Campground experiences.
