We had a wonderful weekend with old friends and new. Never stayed in a yurt before, and it was such fun. We joined a group of folks who do this annually, and we are trying to plan our own event now.

The park is clean, the hosts are friendly and helpful. Our group had use of the common area (which rents for $50 a day, I believe), and that was a huge bonus. A large open room with sink, counters for food prep, and we were able to set up our own camp stoves for cooking. The bathrooms and showers were spotless and well stocked with never ending hot water in the showers! Quite a luxury when "camping".

The yurts are large, with attached decks with picnic tables. If we hadn't had the common building, we could have grilled at the yurt and been completely comfortable.

The beach access is wonderful. What a beautiful location. This is a great spot to bring a group - but plan well (months) ahead, as the spots fill quickly (like other state parks) as soon as the season opens.

We were there as a couple, but the rest of our were all families with kids ranging from very young, to teens. There is something for everyone here!

For years, my son and I went to Nehalem Bay State Park during the off-season to spend two nights in one of the yurts. We always expected rain, and were sometimes surprised by beautiful winter sunshine. The yurts comfortably sleep 4, but can sleep more. They have electric heat so you can stay warm in the winter. Even though you are no more than about 200 yards from the ocean, sand dunes shelter you from wind and sound. Things to do: fishing, clamming, crabbing, walking, horseback rides, bicycle rides, and barbecuing. As sunshinegurrl said, the racoons will provide much entertainment as they rip through your food supply left on the picnic table. You can get within a few feet of deer if you approach them gently and patiently.

WE stayed in a yurt , which is a great price for the convience of not having to pack a tent and have a heated place to lay your head. The park is nice , has a boat launch great for crabbing or watching seals. The playground is in nice shape . The only down side is Racoon, anything left on the porch will get ate, and yes they can get into your coolers.. really!!!

This is a very nice state park. We camped here with an RV in January and we pretty much had the place to ourselves. 30 amp power and water are at each site and many yurts are available. Bathrooms and showers are older but very clean. CAUTION for large RV's! The roads are very narrow and have many overhanging branches, very difficult to manuver.

We went there last Labor Day weekend. It's a nice enough campground with an awesome beach. We tented, leaving us a little out of place among the RVs with satellite TV and full wet bars. If you go on a busy weekend, bring your earplugs.
