Ate here as a group of 3 on 8/15/13. Our waiter was new (second day, I believe he said), so some of this can be chalked up to inexperience. Also aware that the restaurant itself is pretty new, so there's that, too.
That being said, here's a brief recap of our experience:
1) Atmosphere was strange. Obviously used to be a Mexican restaurant; not much has been changed to fit the "southern" theme. No music playing (we asked if they could change that twice before they turned some on).
2) Service was slow. Took awhile to get our drinks (apparently they had to find the wine that went in our drinks). Waited a decent time for our food (nothing too terrible, but the food wasn't exactly hot when it arrived, either).
3) They were out of several food items (black-eyed peas, mac and cheese, certain fish, etc), and admittedly didn't even have the steaks that were on their menu (and offered a different cut instead). Also, we ordered a to-go meal (for my grandmother, who couldn't make it) and found when we got home that they'd given us greens instead of cornbread and no gravy with the mashed potatoes.
The food was pretty good, and the place has potential, but I think it might be wise to give them a month or so to settle into the business before eating there.
