What a spiritual place. the journey is the destination up and back. Not a difficult hike but wear good shoes or boots ... critters ya know?

While the hike to Lower Table Rock is shorter than Upper Table Rock you get to experience chaparal , then manazinata forest, before finally climbing up to the top of the butter. We missed the flower season as we were there in mid-July, but we did get the heat! If you have the patience there are lots of birds to spy, towhees sing to you from everywhere, as do finch (Purple and perhaps Caissins), the occassional scree of a raptor, oak titmice, and then once on top taking in the views, the vultures swop low over your heads to get to their thermals, especially if you venture close to the cliff edges. Its a fun but hot walk, just stay attent to not getting in the poison oak that is every where.

A good hike through some interesting terrain and when you get to the top the views of the area are spectacular. Definitively not an easy hike but if you are in reasonable shape this is a hike worth doing.

Lower Table Rock has a slightlly shorter but steeper trail; Upper Table Rock, less steep but longer trail. Lower Table Rock has a unique ecosystem on the top with fairy shrimp pools and the remains of an old airstrip. The view from both is fantastic. Parking is good for both but a little limited for Upper Table Rock. Chemical toilets at both parking lots. Fun hikes.
