This Bed & Breakfast is an excellent value with a gorgeous view. Since family lives nearby, we will definitely return.
We were trying to find accommodations in McMinnville for a short 3 nights to attend a wedding. We expected budget to moderate prices in this middle sized town instead of moderate to expensive, which led us to explore other types of accommodations.
We were surprised to find a beautiful B&B for just a little more than the average cost within McMinnville proper. The low price caught our attention first and then the beautiful view caught our attention next and we immediately stopped looking and made reservations.
What you see in the pictures is what you get. The place is beautiful and the view is gorgeous and relaxing. It’s neat to watch the alpacas migrate up from the valley below directly in front of you late each morning.
We were met by Danna (Dan-uh) who is a very well-rounded and interesting person. She is gracious, amiable, and a pleasure to converse with.
ROOMS: Both bedrooms are reasonably roomy with one slightly more roomy than the other since it did not have a dresser. We are spoiled at home with our foam mattress, soft foam and down topper, foam/down pillows, Modal (beech) sheets and electric adjusting beds for which we can rarely be satisfied elsewhere. So it’s no small thing to say the beds were not uncomfortable and we slept well. The pillows were too small to use one, and too large to use two which was a minor annoyance. The room was attractive and homey with ample blankets, pillows and outlets.
Our room was just off the very nice guest living area. The other room was down the hall next to the bathroom and laundry room. We were given two keys to lock our room and to lock the outside entry door.
BATHROOM: Both bedrooms share a spacious bathroom. There are two sinks on a long counter top, toilet, shower/tub combo, and ample space for both guests to put their personal items. I did not notice any uncleanliness or malfunction whatsoever. The low-flow shower head was quite adequate. We also had access to the laundry facilities which was helpful to us.
LIVING AREA: As shown in the picture, there is room for both sets of guests at one time. The flat screen TV is a perfect size and the remote is an easy to use Dish type, and you can record shows too. The living room also has nice view of the valley below. The upper great room is available as well for quiet reading or whatever and with a gorgeous view on the outside veranda where one can sit, relax and just enjoy the beauty.
It was a great pleasure to meet and share lodging with Kurt and Myrna as they headed south to enjoy another one of their many, many, many anniversary vacations. B&B’s are very cool!
KITCHEN/DINING: Again, very nice and beautiful and with a gorgeous view whether you eat inside or out.
BREAKFAST: On day one we had vegetable egg soufflés with a yogurt/fresh blackberry and muesli mix. Both very delicious and satisfying. On day two we had tasty quiches with apple and fruit tarts. I do not eat before flights so I don’t know what my wife had the morning we left.
The HOT TUB is just outside the living room on the patio window overlooking the beautiful valley. It sits 8 with numerous jets and settings. It was a very toasty 104 when I got in on the second day. Wish I could have enjoyed it every day but we were too busy. The combination of soothing liquid heat melded with the serene and verdant landscape is an intoxicating mood enhancer.
WIRELESS INTERNET was very important to us and we were not disappointed.
Bottom line: A wonderful owner with an impeccably clean and well-appointed home perfectly situated to take advantage of a magnificent view at a great value, and more so when compared with local accommodations.
We already have reservations to return very shortly.
DIRECTIONS: For those who require precise directions like me, The Willis Road Wayside B&B is 6.4 miles northwest of north central McMinnville where I-99 turns to the Northeast.
From the stop light at I-99 and Bakers Creek Road, go west 2.7 miles and turn right onto Willis Road.
Go 3.7 miles to 15575 NW Willis Rd. (Note: After about 1/2 mile on Willis road you will make a 75 degree left and then within 500m quickly make a 75 degree right. Do not go straight onto the gravel road which is not hard to do.)
At 3.7 miles you will top a gradual hill and the B&B will be on your left. We were instructed to pull into the SECOND entrance and then fork right down a short incline towards the barn, then slight left to park on the pavement facing the side of the B&B. It doesn't really matter how you enter the premises, but when you have parked, you should be on the side of B&B as show in my pic.
