Tucked in at the corner of NE 8th St and NE Alpine St, in the old granary district - a light industrial area, you'll find the Grain Station Brew Works. They've only been open a few weeks. The place has a nice, open, barn-like feel with heavy wood counters and tables inside. It has great lighting, an aside area with dart boards, and generally a good, open, welcoming feel. Windows along one side displays steel brewing tanks.
They do a great job of brewing their own stuff. I had the NutRed, Bet The Farm IPA, and the Grain Station Stout. All very good... served in a generous imperial pint glass. They also have a list of guest beers, but why bother. A great find for craft brew enthusiasts. This place is already becoming a local favorite, based on the head count both evenings I was there.
The food is good, soon to be great. They're still getting a feel for the kitchen. They make their own pizzas, see them hand tossing the dough. I had the curry chicken sandwich on marbled rye. It was quite good. Don't pass this place up when doing your crawl through town.

I visited with friends and family on the fourth day it was open. What a great place. Very good food. My two year old boy just loved the hummus. The pizza was so yummy we ate it all. We washed it all down with the local beer. Very yummy. The wait staff told us about the beers and what was still to come. So, we will be back for sure. A great new place to hang out with friends and enjoy some great local beer and wines with great food.

Keeping in mind this restaurant/brew pub has been opened just a week, our impression was pretty positive. We went early on Friday night, happy we did as it got very crowded. It's a beautifully done space, and, despite the high ceilings and crowd, the noise level was ok. Our service was inconsistent and slow -- no menus or water to start and a longer-than-necessary wait for drinks. The waitress was unfamiliar with the menu, and, by her comments, we judged she hadn't tasted much of the food. We each had the house salad -- excellent, lightly dressed as we like it. My husband had the Harvester Golden Ale which was great. I made a foolish mistake -- ordered wine in a brew pub. It was a local, lightweight pinot noir that was not very good -- and, at $8 a glass, a very chintzy pour. I went with a beer after that. Would recommend they add some more wines -- they're, after all, surrounded by local wineries -- even sharing the parking lot with several. The pepperoni and provolone pizza was large and very good -- perfect crust with locally made pepperoni. The sandwiches we saw go by looked wonderful. We hope this restaurant makes it, as there's so much potential. We'll try again when they've been opened longer -- on a night other than Friday.

Stop in if you are around the Yamhill County area. Great new place to have a drink and some food. Love the old wooden atmosphere. For IPA fans, try Bet The Farm IPA.
