Incredible collection of airplanes helicopters etc spanning from a full sized replica of the original Wright Brothers airplane to modern jets and rockets.
The centerpiece is the Howard Hughes “Spruce Goose” which has to be seen to be believed. Well worth the visit.

We visited these museums as part of a car tour. The aviation museum has the Spruce Goose, which has to be experienced in person to comprehend the immense size.
This along with many more planes starting with the conception of flight, early aircraft, World War ll airplanes, Vietnam era planes and even one like my Dad used to have when I was young.
Across the immense parking lot is the Space Museum with the beginnings of space exploration, examples of many missiles, space shuttle missions, examples of those behind the scene of our race to space and so much more!
We never made it into the theater.
Give it a day or even longer. Fabulous exhibition!

Located about an hour's drive southwest of Portland, the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum is well-worth the drive. BTW - the drive itself takes you through some beautiful countryside. Air and Space museums are some of my favorite places and this museum ranks up there with the two best (in my opinion) The Smithsonian Museum of Air and Space, in Washington, DC, and the Boeing Museum Flight, in Seattle. The Evergreen Museum has a great many notable exhibits but perhaps the most famous is Howard Hughes' The Spruce Goose. We spent three hours wending our way through the well-maintained aircraft (including some snack time), but I could have spent more. Two enormous exhibit halls feature the "pre-space" era of flight (up to the 1960s approx.) and the "space" era. (1950's - 1970's approx.) The campus includes a large theater, outdoor exhibits and waterpark.

No trip to McMinnville is complete without a visit to this museum. Whether or not one has interest in air history or space history this is a fun stop. We went primarily to see the Spruce Goose and had to rush out after 2.5 hours to meet friends. This can easily be a half day or more stop. Don’t miss this museum.
