My husband and I had a couple of days during our vacation with no plans so we found imperial River company online and decided to give it a try. We didn't have any expectations and ended up having a great time. The lodge was great, location wonderful, and service exceptional. We had a great time hanging out on the lawn and took an all day rafting trip that was great (more time on the river than a bus). Imperial River Co. does it right. We will be back!

My husband and I booked a room at the Imperial River Co in Maupin. We were going on a rafting trip and just needed a place to lay down our heads. Our expectations were not very high, as Maupin is a small town. We were surprised and delighted to find that the Imperial River Co is an amazing, clean, beautifully decorated hotel, with wonderful touches like local books in the rooms; solid, comfortable love seat swings scattered around the property; and an incredible view of the river framed by a gorgeous, well maintained grassy meadow.

The restaurant had the best grill-style food we've eaten in awhile -- substantial portions, and bold, interesting tastes like sweet potato fries with Thai peanut sauce. All food was beautifully presented and good. Our only disappointment is that Maupin is so far from our home in Portland, as we would love to come back often!

A wonderful place to stay if you are planning a White water rafting trip down the Deshutes . The lodge was situated right on the river bank . Each room had a theme ..we were in the railroad , fishing and country rooms . All tastefully decorated and spotless. The food at the restaurant was excellent and the staff could notbe more helful .The White water rafting trip was a fabulous experience thanks to our guide Cole .What a great guy he was so friendly and cheerful too . So this place is a must if you are going to stay in Maupin.

The Deschutes River is fantastic for white water rafting and there is no better location or choice of hotel than the Imperial River Company. The hotel is located right on the river, next to the Maupin City Park where other rafters camp and tie off their rafts. While those campers use the public coin-op showers, you can enjoy a nice long hot shower and fresh towels in your quaint room. The owners have taken great pride in decorating each room in a whimsical manner. Our room was the Bird Watcher's Room. It had a sweet little message about why birds sing, hand painted on one wall...and a few bird houses artfully placed. This was not the best room on the property as it's located next to the parking lot and right under stairs that lead to the second floor. But since the hotel had been booked for many months, and we were on a waiting list....we were happy to have this room. It was comfortable and very clean! I noticed a small air conditioning unit, but we did not need it the night we stayed. There was a small fridge provided which was helpful for chiling some beverages.
The restaurant is very pleasant and nicely decorated....and they make the best Iced Coffee! The food was really good. It was nice to break up our 8 day rafting/camping trip on the 4th night, with a stay at Imperial River Lodge!
The lawn out back of the restaurant and hotel stretches down to the river when you can jump in to float and swim (current not too strong here).
The lobby is comfortable and offers free WiFi at a computer station (most helpful because there is no cell service in this area....so at least checking in by email is possible. To get cell service you have to get in a car and drive over the bridge, up the hill into town and park near the high school to find service...about a mile or so away). There is a small gift shop and a great selection of new books to buy for reading under a shady tree.
Maupin is a very cute small town and a real treat for weary rafters in need of supplies for the next leg of the journey.
The staff is so polite and helpful. An A+ for great customer service! Thanks everyone!

Room Tip: Try to book a river view. Not only will it be pretty...but it will be more quiet than rooms next to the parking lot. Book early!!!

My first Impression was how nice the grounds were kept. Then I met the staff at the front desk, very professional and accomadating as well as personable. The rooms were spotless, and very comfortable. My family and friends did an all day raft trip. The equipment was all top notch. The guides were informative and fun and addressed any special needs your party had, while makeing sure your trip was safe. Lunch was good, no cold peanut butter sandwich here (unless you maybe requested one). We ate dinner in the onsite restaurant. Service and food was great. Price and selection were more comparable to you local restaurants than a resort. The bar opens up to the patio and has a gas fire pit to enjoy. one again the staff was wonderful. I don't know if it is always the case, but the owners were onsite and hands on, and personally made sure the guests needs were met.
