We stumbled across this new restaurant the last time we were in Manzanita - it is wonderful! Our table had the truffle mac & cheese, the vegetarian entree which was veggie spaetzle, the veggie dumplings, and the mussels. Everything was delicious including the wine. Service was outstanding.

I happened on this lovely spot my first night by luck. The staff and chef were charming, the food spectacular, the wine delicious.

This lovely restaurant opened Valentines Day 2014 according to the delightful owner and is sure to be successful. It is right on the main street in Manzanita. Reservations are recommended as this is a small cosy spot. We dined there this past weekend with another couple. The apricots wrapped in local bacon with toasted almond were wonderful as an appetiser and had 4 to the order. All four of us at our table had the Ling Cod which we were told was locally caught the day before and was cooked in brown butter. We felt that it was possibly the best fish meal we have ever had and that is saying a lot as we order fish often. For dessert I had the pot de chocolate and it was rich and plenty for two to share. The only minor suggestion to the establishment is that the coffee at the end of the meal, served in coffee presses was not hot enough.I highly recommend this jewel!

We dined at Blackbird with a small group of friends for my husband's birthday. We were a bit concerned at first by the intimate size and atmosphere, but quickly discovered that Blackbird is a perfect fit. We found the menu well-rounded and the wait staff willing to answer our many questions (how is Roasted Bone Marrow served?). Choices ranged from smoked duck breast salad to a tasty mac and cheese and, of course, their renowned lamb burger. The ingredients are locally sourced, fresh, and wild. The bar and tables are made from reclaimed wood that washed up in Nehalem Bay after the big storm in 2007. One of the best parts of the restaurant is the bathroom - seriously. The punched metal light fixture casts geometric patterns on the walls and there is a floor to ceiling cedar tree remnant in the corner. Pretty cool all around.

FINALLY... A farm to table restaurant with sustainable practices and noteworthy food only 15 minutes south of Cannon Beach.

My husband and I stay on the coast often and always have a hard time finding places that match our food preferences (local, organic, pasture-raised meats...etc.). Easy to see considering we come from Portland where these options are plentiful.

With that being said, we had an absolute fantastic experience at Blackbird. Here's what we had:

Appetizer: Bacon-wrapped Apricots (w/almonds & chèvre)

Entrees:
Lamb Burger
Vegetarian Special (on this night it was a unique german pasta sautéed in duck fat (I believe), kale, carrots, onions, asparagus all topped with almonds and a fried egg (soft yolk).

Desert: Salted caramel chocolate pot de creme

We feel we might be able to duplicate the bacon-wrapped apricots at home - but they were still scrumptious. My husband said the lamb burger was one of the best burgers he's ever tasted. And my vegetarian meal was insanely amazing and tasty. The portion was actually too big to finish..

A nice touch was being able to speak to the chef/owner about her past since we saw she too lived in the same city we did at one point.

You can tell from the atmosphere to the kind wait staff to the impeccable, fresh & seasonal menu items, that the chef has a vision to help change the culinary landscape on the coast.

SO THANKFUL and about time a restaurant such as Blackbird opened... We're considering eating here two nights in a row. It was that good.
