I was looking for one of the nicer places in Manzanita that was very near the ocean. With the unit that we stayed in right on the the beach, I spluged and paid for our higher than my normal 2 night required minimum stay. Manzanita is still a quiet coastal town and the $363 for the two nights came with expectations from me. The layout was like a suite with lots of window for viewing the ocean. The unit is tired though and needs TLC and refubishing throughout. The noise in the bedroom when the children in the unit next door got up in the morning worked just like an alarm clock. If I stay in Manzanita again, I will stay elsewhere.

The Ocean Inn at Manzanita Beach is a small apartment type place. We found it to be a wonderful value for an extended stay one-two weeks) because it met all of our needs: We wanted to kick back, relax, and experience the wonder of the ocean without the crowds. We loved apartment #9. It's an an upstairs unit with a partial view of the ocean and includes two balconies, a fireplace, a bedroom, living room / kitchen and large bathroom. We paid $990 a week- a great value. It only gets noisy if the people in the downstairs unit are loud (that happened on two nights of one of our stays).
We wanted a place that didn't feel like a hotel but offered maid service if we needed it. The furniture and carpeting was not new but it was clean. The bed was very comfortable.

Ocean Inn is mere steps to the beach. It's less than five minutes to take the firewood from the car trunk to the beach for the marshmellow roast , and less than five minutes to get in some wonderful sunbathing, power walks, kite flying, and exploring. It is also just steps away from the two fully stocked grocery stores in town. We ate fresh Oregon-grown raspberries for breakfast, Dunguness crabs for lunch, and drank Oregon Pinot Noir with dinner. We enjoyed sitting outside having coffee at the two coffee shops in town as well. Most of Manzanita's restaurants are wonderful; we specially liked the Big Wave Cafe, The Blue Sky, and Left Coast Siesta. Last summer we liked the Blue Sky's change to smaller plates and enjoyed trying out several gourmet taste treats. We enjoyed the town's new Wine bar several times and thought they did an excellemt job paring their appetizers with their wine choices. We thought the Crab Shack needed some work- service was very slow both times we tried it and the food choices were mostly of the deep fried variety. As we experience DC restaurant prices on a regular basis, we loved that, overall, the prices were lower and food was as good or better than what we experience in DC.
We also like the Manzanita location as we always take the Three Capes drive from there and take in a wonderful dinner at Roseanne's.

I was born and raised and lived in Oregon for 30 years before leaving to explore the world, and find Manzanita and Ocean Inn a hidden treasure for esape. I've stayed up and down the northern, central, and southern Oregon coastline, and highly recommend Manzanita for those looking for spectacular ocean views, a very clean beach, relaxing days and nights, and peace and quiet.
