We needed a room for one night on the OR coast. Towns like Seaside were too touristy and Cannon Beach was a bit too uppity. We read the solid reviews of this hotel and decided to stay here.

We stayed in the original building of the hotel. It is dated and slightly weathered, like many beach hotels can be, but it was clean and we felt very comfortable here. Our room had a mini-kitchen, a private bedroom and a bed in the main room. The beds were comfortable and the mattresses didn't sag. If you are looking for a posh place, this isn't it. This is a place where the view is the focal point and the room is good, not great. The view from our room was excellent. The hotel also has a heated pool.

The location was perfect. We were in the main building which has a road between it and the beach but the road had minimal traffic. The hotel is within walking distance of the town, Marzano's pizza (sooo good) and a breakfast place. We found the town of Manzanita to be quite charming. It seemed much more quaint than some of the other towns we visited.

Looking back on our trip, this wasn't the most glamorous hotel but it was one of our favorites. We really enjoyed our stay here and the town.

Room Tip: It seemed that all the rooms had a view of the coast. I would try and get a room on the second floo...

Great location, looking right at the ocean. The small street between the hotel and the ocean isn't too much of a big deal... not really a lot of traffic here.

Our room was on the ground level, which was good for walking out to the beach more easily. However, we could hear the people above us and their little kids running and jumping, which was annoying and constantly disruptive. Also, the front door is a sliding glass door, which is your view of the ocean... meaning there is VERY LITTLE PRIVACY if you are on the ground floor. Everyone walking and driving by can easily look right into your room. It's annoying to have to close the curtains, and lose the view, just to get privacy. I wished we were upstairs, and next time I will request it.

The decor is dated, and the layout was odd.

Overall this is an average place with an excellent location and view. Manzanita is very small and charming. Mostly likely if you are at the beach you are probably out and about, not spending too much time in your room. Fine for sleeping, I though the bed was comfy (I like a firmer mattress), but bring earplugs. Maybe a little pricey for the quality of the place, but there's not much better in this price range during the peak of summer at the Oregon Coast.

Room Tip: I think a second floor room would be quieter, and would definitely provide more privacy.

As mentioned by others, great beach location, nice big room, good value for the money. The room did smell kind of musty, and the bedspreads are the kind you immediately remove from the bed and avoid. The young women who checked us in could have been more welcoming and informative - But this is no frills and just fine if you're not looking for any.

Room Tip: If you don't have kids or a dog, ask for a room on the 2nd floor. This seems to be a big family...

We loved the fact that we were just across the street from the beach! The rooms were comfortable for the price range and the staff was helpful. Due to the fact that everything one needs is within 3-4 city blocks, we never used our car and that really helps the feeling that one is on vacation! I noticed that a review mentioned there were no private patios, but we appreciated that and I even shared a beer with more than one family. That, I feel, gives the place a laid back feel to it and makes it even more relaxing to share things like beach experiences and where one likes to eat. My only suggestion would be to have removeable window fans to check out for a nominal fee to get better air circulation for the warmer days and to bring in cool air at night. We would definitely stay again as we felt it was a good value for the money especially since there are plenty of pet friendly rooms too. It is definitely a dog-friendly town.

Room Tip: Use the room descriptions and pictures to help, but I would verify with the staff as they are helpfu...

We are regular vacationers in the town of Manzanita, but have always rented houses to have the kitchen amenity... that will now change! We loved our stay at the Sunset Surf Motel. The room was clean and had plenty of space for the four of us, the kitchenette, while it didnt include a stove, did more than its job, and the view was to die for! The icing on the cake was that it had a heated pool for our boys to unwind in after a day of combing beaches just steps from the room. We will definitely stay here again! I just cant get out of vacation mindset after the wonderful time we had!

Room Tip: An upstairs room that has a full view of the beach it what it is all about!

We were at the motel in August and found everything as expected. Clean, bright, comfortable. The bed was just right. The manager was very nice and helpful. The cleaner was also very nice. I would recommend Sunset Surf to anyone looking for accommodations. The property is set right across the street from the beach - perfect!

A friend recommended the sunset surf Motel as we are from Montana. We had a wonderful stay in a beautiful room, very clean and just footsteps from the beach. Their swimming pool is warm and exceptionately clean also. Will book there again if we make it to the coast again.

Room Tip: We had an upperlevel corner room that was etraordinary. Windows covered two sides of the room which...
