“Great location right on the beach”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2010

If you are looking for luxury pass this by but if you want a clean hotel, right on the beach with access to a casino right next door - this is the place for you. It is also one heck of a value - get a player's card and enjoy great rates all year long. I paid $89 a night in July for a beachfront room, which is a great deal. During the winter you can get rooms for as low as $39 a night. I like luxury as much as the next person but value and cleanliness are nice as well. I stay here at least three times a year and will continue to do so. Also if you get a chance to eat dinner in the hotel restaurant it is good and has an incredible view.

Friendly staff, clean rooms, bed was a little uncomfortable but not too bad. Quiet huge rooms right on the ocean. Great toiletries. Located right next to casino, casino had great buffet. We got the room for $89 per night if we signed up for the casinos rewards program (which is free) plus each of us got free buffet vouchers as well. Great overall experience!

The room was clean and the service was great! BUT...the beds were awful! I couldn't move in the mornings. The walls are paper thin and everytime our neighbors would come in at 2:00 in the morning, we were awakened by their noise and talking. Could hear their TV and everytime they spoke, we knew what they said. We stayed in building D and it is nothing like the pictures they show you on their website! We were duped! Views are great, but rooms....LOUSY!!! Price may be right, but be prepared to have a room big enough for a bed, table, two night stands and room to walk around the bed to the bathroom, where if you are overweight, you have no room. You have to straddle the toilet just to shut the door. There isn't hot water in the sink, but you can turn on the faucet in the tub and get hot water. We are VERY disappointed! Will NEVER come back!!

There are a few questions on the hotel...they say they have free wifi...no one could access it that we talked to. They have shuttle service...but you get different stories on how to access it.

The positives of the hotel.....
while it looks horrid on the outside, the rooms are clean and comfortable.

The rates are very reasonable.

View cannot be beat.

Wheelchair accessible shower is amazing.

Each room has a microwave and refrigerator

When checking in the staff was very polite and helpful

Location cannot be beat! Especially if you do not plan to be in the room very much. Do not let the run down appearance keep you away!

Negatives....
every peep from the room above you can be heard

Showers run on a shared water heater so regulatine water temp is near impossible

Wheelchair access to the rooms is horrid! You cannot stay without someone with you because they must go down the steps and through the room to open the back door for you. In order to get a wheelchair down to the room a person must wheel down a long steep ramp (with no edges or railing) and no light at night. The room keys are supposed to work on the back doors....we learned they do not meaning someone had to let me in each time.

There is very limited handicapped parking and no van accessible parking near the handicapped rooms.

Staff at the front desk was very rude when checking out and over charged us...which resulted in having to call supervisors to get the bill corrected

Grounds crew comes around to spray off the room windows at 6:30 am ...so if you are in the first building plan on a rude awakening!

We took advantage of mid-week rates the end of May - on checking in we asked about upgrading and were able to snag a jr suite for just $20 a day more - definitely worth the money. Room was spacious, 2 flat screen tv's, fireplace, deck overlooking the beach, wet bar, frig - everything you might need. We later looked at the regular rooms - they were ok but they are old and in need of upgrading - we were glad we upgraded. Location is at the north end of the city but easy driving to all locations and the beach is spectacular - and they allow fires. The restaurant at the hotel is better than the one at the casino. Golf course was 'a cow pasture' - go to Agate Beach instead.
