“Comfortable and affordable - Close to beach access”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2014

We stayed at the hotel over the Valentine weekend. The owner was great, hospitable and was happy to let us stay another night. The place was very quaint and right by beach access. The view was fantastic. They are in the process of doing some updates to the place, but this did not affect our experience. We had cable in the rooms and they have a bunch of movies in the office for you to watch. The room was a 70's style, very comfortable and clean. Would recommend and stay in the future!!

We enjoyed our stay at the Hideaway Motel. The owner checked us in and directed us to the rooms and was available if we needed her without being over bearing the way some places can be. It was great that our dogs are welcome and they offered firewood to use in the fire places. There are cute little books in the rooms with notes from people that stayed there over the years. Nice touch. I wish the bay windows would have opened but we had a balcony and the rooms were clean and comfy. Room 10 is our favorite but I want to return with out the kids and stay in the very top one. I bet the view from there is amazing. If you aren't looking for a 5 star hotel but a friendly, clean, ecclectic place to stay this is it. A side not. Beach access is lacking. Don't try to walk down the trail unless you are athletic. But drive to the beach access just below

Room Tip: Room 10 was amazing! view is the best. 8 has no beach view except from the balcony

The Hideaways gets several negative reviews that I think are grossly mistaken- or just flat out wrong.

The Hideaways is not a new, modern, open 24 hours, concierge service, maid service establishment. The people who run it are pretty much regular Joe's. So those who demand to be waited on hand and foot or expect 24 hour service for every dirty towel need to be elsewhere.

The establishment is very old- and it shows. But it is also clean. There are towels in drawers, old (but fully functional) appliances, old wood fireplaces... and also marvelous ocean views for the lowest prices in all the central Oregon coast. It's essentially a 1950's place. If you get that, you're fine.

As to staff friendliness, if I ask anything with so much as remote politeness, I am treated in kind. Nothing wrong with that.

The rooms are small but very usable. The bed is surprisingly good (still not great, but better than average) and we feel quite at home here despite the differences between here and a modern motel.

Normally it is very quiet and I love the sound of the waves as I fall asleep.

We hung out with the owners daughter and drank beer at their happy hour and sat in the sun. Incredible view, close to everything, quiet, beach access, and you can check out sweet VHS's from the office! Super fun!

If you desire a great view, beach access, and friendly staff, this is the place to stay. I never thought such hospitality existed. My husband and I were looking for a quiet place with no distractions and we found exactly that. The fireplace was especially romantic! Love it and we'll be back next anniversary.

A bit rundown and outdated but overall very nice. We stayed in room #10. Very spacious, bathroom on small side. A great fireplace! Kitchen completely stocked with untensils, dishes, cookware, small appliances, stove and good size fridge. Large deck and amazing view both off deck and out lovely bay window! Very home-like with board games, puzzles and books. Weather not the greatest during our stay but watching the storms roll in off the ocean made up for it.

my friend and i went there for a few days. the rocker was literally falling apart. the 'fold out couch' was FILTHY and IMPOSSIBLE to sleep on. as a result, i spent all that money only to sleep on the floor.
it was quiet, and a nice view, but, unless the upgrade the furniture, i will not be returning.
