My wife and I stayed here for our 1st wedding anniversary in one of their King Jacuzzi suites.

The Good:

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had no issues with reservations, and check-in took all of 2 minutes.

The room was excellent. No tacky beach-decor. Perfectly clean, robes laid out, rose petals and chocolates, all the amenities you'd reasonably expect for the price. Beds are subjective, but it was clean and we both found it comfortable. The sofa was also amazingly comfortable.

One of my concerns before going was the size of the jacuzzi. I've been places that said they had a jacuzzi, when what they really had was a pitiful bathtub no larger than your average apartment tub with jets. This was an actual jacuzzi, and large enough for two people to share easily. Not a hot tub, but excellent.

The balcony had two wicker chairs and a little wicker end table. Made for a nice spot for us to watch the sunset with a bottle of champagne. (different rooms have different balcony furniture, but they all appeared to have a little table and at least 2 chairs)

The "custom lighting" takes on a warm candle-like feel when dimmed all the way down. Very nice touch.

Very quite. Never heard a thing except for waves and seagulls.

The possibly bad:

The fireplace never turns completely off, so we had the balcony door open most of the time to keep it from getting too warm. In the cooler months, this would be a non-issue, and we both want to go back in storm season.

The window does not open, which means leaving the balcony door open is the only option. Not a big problem at the Oregon coast, since mosquitoes and flies do not get along well with salt water, but it would have been nice.

No AC, but let's face it, it's the central Oregon coast. You only need AC 2 or 3 weeks out of the year, if that.

The bathroom has a pedestal sink instead of a vanity counter. No problem for me, made applying makeup a little tough for the Mrs.

Direct beach access was officially non-existent. Unofficially, there's a foot-trail from past guests down a steep bank.

Other:

The "packages" they offer are overpriced for what you get. (champagne, flowers, candy, wine glasses, etc) However, they're probably well worth it if you want to have that extra surprise for your significant other.

This place is for grown-ups. Specifically, pairs of grown-ups. Technically, they allow kids as long as they're over 12, but unless you're popping for the super expensive 2-bedroom penthouse, you're kind of missing the point if you take the kids.

As others mentioned, the TV is a tiny afterthought, but like I said, the place is for pairs of grownups. If you're watching TV, you've already failed.

My husband and I drove to the coast for a quick one night stay. We chose the Starfish to enjoy the ocean views and since it we booked last minute, we booked the 2 bedroom suite for the outdoor hot tub. The suite was much larger than we needed and the bedrooms were in the back of the suite and were a bit hot since they didn't get the breeze with the sliding glass door open. We ended up sleeping in the living room area as it was too hot for us in the bedrooms. Other than that, the room was great and the kitchen modern and clean. The views were incredible from the balcony and hot tub. I would suggest some sort of radio for guests to be able to listen to music while enjoying a romantic evening. One night was not enough! If we make it back to the coast, we will definitely be staying here again. We stayed in room #8, which is updated and very clean and quiet. Enjoy!

The Starfish Manor and specifically the Bella Suite exceeded our expectations (Oceanfront patio hot tub and master bedroom Jacuzzi really fit the bill). The fully equipped kitchen was a family vacation travelers dream. The staff were great, non intrusive and completely professional. We will be back!

Room Tip: Go for the Bella Suite, even if you don't need the extra bedroom the patio hot tub alone is worth it

Spacious 2-bedroom suite with kitchen & hot-tub outside, but amenities are lacking - one small square of soap (for up to 4 people), no tissues, no shades over windows, just thin drapes so we woke up with the sun, must schedule room cleaning or they don't come. Staff isn't on duty round the clock and don't come in until 9am so we couldn't leave early for the airport. Room was 85 degrees (65 outside) when we arrived until we left windows (with no screens) open all day; a very tiny fan (approx. 12") was in the closet. No lighting in hallway to our door. No direct access to beach. Free wi-fi was spotty. Will not stay here if we come back to town.

I was drawn to this place when I realized they had hot tubs on some balconies overlooking the ocean. The indoor jacuzzis look nice, but having a hot tub on the balcony is even better and the view is outstanding! The suite was larger than we really needed - 2 bedrooms, but it was the only type of room we could get with a balcony hot tub. My only complaint about the hot tub was that it difficult to get in and out of without some kind of step. The place was clean and had a great kitchenette that had everything we needed. The bathroom could have used a shelf and some hooks. It was difficult finding a place to even put a toothbrush. Otherwise, it was a great place to stay and relax and enjoy the ocean.
