“Something other than burgers, fish and pizza”
Reviewed July 17, 2014

After a week of traveling our family was looking for something other than fish, burgers and pizza. The restaurant is intimate with basic but authentic decor. The service was excellent and the waitress was very helpful in making sure the spice was not over the top hot for our two young boys. Our boys like the 'pre-appetizer' so we were kept with a good supply and were given extra at no charge because a gluten allergy in the family prevented one of us from having the naan bread. Of special note -- order the garlic naan as it is amazing. A great option for a change. It is more expensive that traditional pizza and burgers but in line with prices for good Indian food. Korma and Butter Chicken were each 13.99 but portions were generous enough to feed our family once we added pakora appetizer and two naan bread.

“Nary a fish in sight”
Reviewed July 16, 2014 via mobile

Overstuffed on fish, and pleased with reviews, we tried the lunch buffet. As I tasted each dish I was pleased by the intensity of the flavors. And not over salted which was nice. Just good herbs and spices. Even the mint chutney was robust, not thin and flat as it can be. The kitchen does not skimp on flavor. The goat vindaloo was a nice surprise, and it was excellent. Tender, not overly goaty. Good balance of meat and veggie dishes to accommodate both sides of the aisle.

“Great Indian Food in Lincoln City? YES!”
Reviewed July 13, 2014

Driving home from a day on the river and hungry, we decided to stop in for take out to enjoy at the beach. We had been curious about Flavor of India and decided to try a few entrees and appetizers.

WOW!

The aromas in the restaurant were amazing, and I had a hard time deciding what to order. We ended up getting the veggie samosas, onions in chickpea flower, a lamb dish and a shrimp in spinach dish along with basmati rice. As the owner noted that I had my dog with us waiting in the car, he offered to run the food out to us when it was ready so I could sit with my dog and husband.

When he handed me the bag of food, I knew we were in for a great meal! We could barely wait to sit down on the picnic bench before tasting the delicacies. Everything was delicious...the portions generous.

We will be back again, probably just for take out due to no outdoor seating where I could bring my little poodle. Some of the best Indian food I have had!

“Unexpected surprise”
Reviewed July 12, 2014

Don't overlook this gem of a restaurant in the Taft area of Lincoln City. We regularly eat in Indian restaurants in cities that are larger or have a large East Indian community. We were pleasantly surprised to find such a wonderful gem serving authentic and perfectly spiced Indian dishes. The service is friendly and gracious and, like many good Indian restaurants--you go here for the food, not the decor! But what food. We had the lunch buffet which had paneers, Chicken Mahkani, yellow dal (perfectly spiced) and all of the usual chutneys (but fresher tasting than most places) and a spectacular rice pudding. The naan is of perfect consistency and crisp. We will definitely be back.

“Wonderful North Indian food”
Reviewed June 22, 2014

We were so delighted to find an Indian restaurant on the Oregon coast that we would have patronized it even if the food had not been top-notch. So, we were especially thrilled to find that the Flavor of India serves truly excellent northern India cuisine. Their ingredients are always fresh, the food perfectly spiced, the menu varied enough to accommodate both meat eaters and vegetarians. The Saag Paneer and the other saag dishes are especially good, the Gobi Pakoras (perfectly breaded morsels of cauliflower) are to die for and we particularly love the Vegetable Korma.
Service is warm, friendly and fast. All in all, an excellent dining experience.
