Wow what a nice drive up a secluded road. but dissapointing you could not drive accross. the bridge is a private driveway and you are only allowed to walk accross

First - don't go to Drift Creek to find the covered bridge. It has been moved to Bear Creek. I saw it originally sometime around 1992, and it needed repair...bad. Those who restored it did a great job. My hat's off to those who restored it. The country around it is beautiful. It is about a mile south of Highway 18 just east of Lincoln city. Worth stopping in and seeing at least once.

we found the signage to the bridge a bit sparse but eventually came to this beautifully restored gem. Obviously a project that the owners were passionate about and the rest of us are blessed to have had this couple painstakingly salvage and restore.

First - before anything else - IGNORE the photo that says it's from "management"! That photo is at least 15 years old (pre-1997) and shows the bridge before it was moved and rebuilt.

Drift Creek Covered Bridge was in very poor condition in 1997 and was slated to be destroyed before a grass-roots effort saved it. The heroes of the story are Laura and Kerry Sweitz who organized the community effort, raised money and donated countless hours of time and labor. The bridge was taken apart, moved to its present location and reassembled with both old and new lumber, a task that took about three years.

We always enjoy the pretty park like setting where the bridge is now located, just a mile or so off Hwy 18, a few miles east of Lincoln City. There is room to park and even though the bridge is now located on private property, the public is welcome to walk through it.

Don't confuse this with "Drift Creek Falls" suspension bridge as that is a totally different type of bridge that you have to hike to reach!

Well worth a stop and I recommend all visitors take a few minutes to see this lovely old covered bridge :-)

Bridge is not far from Lincoln city and is step back in time. Interesting old machinery is used for decoration.
