“Great location, great value”
Reviewed June 5, 2009

We've also been staying here for 30+ years. This time, our unit on the first floor was immaculately clean, with new appliances, extremely comfortable queen size bed, and fully furnished kitchen with a decent toaster, microwave and coffeemaker. Plenty of hot water and good water pressure, and good lamps for reading. You don't pay luxury prices -- this is not a luxury lodging. It is an affordable, relaxing, Oregon Coast classic accomodation that is quiet, well-maintained and well-located. Even when the weather is bad, you have great entertainment watching the dogs, kids, surfers and seals on the beach and in the ocean.

My husband and I first went to the Westshore in 1976. Thirty one years later we still go to the Westshore. We've been to a couple other motels on the coast, but we've never been happy like we are at the Westshore. When we visit, I am saddened with modern touches; I think the "old" that other reviewers are so quick to point out is what gives the Westshore it's charm. I always wish it could stay just like it was in the '70s. It's a wonderful place, comfortable, with a great view, terrific staff, and memories. It's a place to stay where the beach is the beach.

LOCATION: Gorgeous view!! Absolutely amazing to wake up in the morning and drink your coffee while watching the frantic ocean roar just yards from your window. It's central to everything... that you can't beat.

ACCOMODATION: Old with very dated furniture, worn out (includes carpeting & fixtures), not clean, and extremely drafty... but on the large size for a kitchenette suite with two bedrooms.

BED QUALITY: Very poor... added foam toppers DO NOT make a bad mattress, comfortable. One bed sagged to the middle, while the other tended to sag to the outside. Springs still could be felt.

VALUE FOR YOUR DOLLAR: I don't think so. We were there in the OFF season and our room (#12) still cost $159.00 a night. It was over priced for what it was. Maybe we paid for location only??

HAZARDS: The fireplace. The damper system did not work well. When we started a fire, the suite quickly filled with smoke and set off the smoke detectors. No one came to check to see if we were alright, even though the detectors screamed for a long time. The large black soot stain on the front of the fireplace brick (above the opening) told us that this had happened before. The fireplace hearth had bricks that were completely loose. The mortar had crumbled away, leaving them unsecured. I found this out when I leaned on the corner of the hearth and almost landed on my face when the corner gave way (this is where the loose bricks were). We own a home with a wood burning fireplace in it and we can honestly say that this suites fireplace needs serious attention!

CONCLUSION: Room number 12 gives a person the impression of being in a back-woods-cottage-type environment. It's a good room if you are looking for location only. We could have over-looked a lot of things had the price per night been cut substantially!

After having read Tripadvisor's top 10 places to stay in Lincoln City, Oregon and wanting to stay oceanfront at a place central to the 7 mile stretch of beach, we chose the Westshore Motel. We did not know what to expect as there were few pictures online and now I know why.

The Westshore Motel is a very old property requiring some serious TLC. Although the location and views are amazing, the rooms and building have little to be desired. First off, the room smelled old and wet. We did not sleep well during our stay as the mattresses were very uncomfortable and needed replacing (ours bowed outward and our friends next door inward). In addition, the walls and ceiling were paper thin causing every noise to be heard. Also, there is apparently no insulation as a breeze could be felt throughout our room from one end to the other. The bathroom felt unclean and dingy with mildew that could be seen in most corners and cracks. The tub was chipped in a number of places with an abnormally low shower head.

In summary, the Westshore Motel is ideal for those seeking very basic accommodations with a great oceanfront location. However, we found this property not to be a good value as it was overpriced (especially since it was off-season) and considering one could obtain a nicer room in a newer oceanfront property just down the road for just an extra $30 more! You are only paying for location, not accommodations/amenities. Do your research.

We visited Lincoln City on our family vacation & we stayed at the Westshore Oceanfront Motel. It has an awesome an awesome view! There is a big window in the living area that is to die for! We stayed in the family unit & it is a two bedroom & it has two futons in the living room. My kids never even stayed in their room - they slept on the futons so they could wakeup to the ocean! :)
The rooms are very clean & there is private beach access. I could watch my husband & kids play on the beach while I drank my coffee! Very relaxing - you can hear the ocean all night.
We plan to visit again in a couple of years.
Lincoln City has great shopping w/ cute gift shops & a Tanger Outlet Mall. Lighthouses are only a short drive away.

Very nice place! :)

We happened to stop in Lincoln City on our way home to Vancouver from visiting the sand dunes, and happened to come across Westshore Motel. What a GREAT discovery. 70 bucks for an oceanfront room!! Unfortunately for us, it was a bit foggy out...

The bathroom is a little small but the room is ample-sized. There is a full sized fridge and a little kitchenette with dishes and all, which is nice since a lot of the local restaurants seem to close quite early. Check out is at noon so we were able to sleep in and take a walk on the beach (literally steps away from the motel!!) after making and eating breakfast. After leaving, we discovered something else: the motel is a very short drive to a great outlet mall off of Hwy 101!

We'll be back at Westshore - hopefully when it's a little less foggy so we can enjoy the view even more!

Wonderful *off the beaten path* motel. Stairs right down to the beach. Ground level rooms have *porches* upstairs rooms have amazing windows, with spectacular views. Kitchenettes in every room. Rooms with bedrooms in them. Perfect place for mom and dad to take the kids for a week of sun-n-fun. Their winter rates are more than reasonable, and their summer rates give you more for your money than other motels. It is just down the beach from the Inn at Spanis head. Get the glorious view with out the breathtaking price!! Our favorite place at the ocean. Stayed there time and time again. Worth looking into!!!
