“Great location, nice unit (108) but too many rules and the cost has exceeded the "value"!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2014

We have stayed at Dock of the Bay for many years. Over the years the cost has continued to increase beyond what I would expect. And, the "rules" have continued to create a very customer unfriendly environment! You need to be a lawyer these days to read their contract and understand their "rules". We won't be staying at Dock of the Bay again!

I cannot begin it say how disappointed I was in this property now! We used to always stay here about 10 years ago but it wasn't run by ocean shores vacation rentals. We stayed in room 305 and it was so run down! We went to sit on the patio and there were two dirty plastic chairs, one of them taped together with duct tape and I didn't realize it until I sat down and almost fell out of it. Their was no couch but a very uncomfortable futon with a dirty cover. The bed was so uncomfortable my husband got up and slept in the chair.
The vacation rental company has so many rules--wash your own towels if there is a washer and dryer in the unit (but they charge a cleaning fee and a booking fee) unreal. You also have to clean the unit ( refrigerator, stove etc.) and take out your garbage before you leave. There is a whole list of things you must do to stay here or you will be charged. We were driving up 101 and got into town early and called to see if we could check in before 4:00 --yes but you will be charged an extra $50.00 REALLY! Not that anyone was staying here. Oh well, it will be the last time we stay here. Too bad because we always liked the location.

Room Tip: Don't stay in 305!

Nice distance from the coastal experiences. Tiki coffee just across the street. Mo's just down the street. Access to the beach a very short walk away. Would have been nice to have washer/dryer and more pillows but still nice all the same.

We have stayed here many times and keep returning. It has a beauiful view
of the Bay & Pacific with excellent access to the beach which is huge & goes all the
way into Lincoln City so you can walk to your hearts content.
If you are not familiar with the area, beach fires are allowed which is great....remember
hot dogs on a stick & S'mores??
IGA grocery store is within walking distance...great resturant choices withing 10 min drive.
It may be an older facility but updated Units at a great price...looking forward to our next stay.

This is an older complex, but many of the units have been updated. We stayed in unit 307 which has been decorated with really nice things. The living room has two twin sleeper sofas which are great for the kids. The property sits right on the bay with panoramic views. We will definitely return next year.

Very Good Deal, Great View, Excellent Location. Would definitely stay again.

Positives:
We were very happy that we were able to book for one night as most rentals have a 2-night or more minimum during the summer.

The condo was clean and well stocked.

Taft is an excellent area to be in with plenty of beach to walk on and good restaurants to walk to as well. The sea lions on the sand across the bay entrance were a bonus, so bring binoculars!

The balcony was wonderful, and the windows in the condo let in lots of light and allow for fabulous bay views with a peek at the ocean to the side.

Negatives:

There were no big negatives, but I gave 4 stars rather than 5 because:

The listing said the bed was a queen, and I think it was more of a full. However, disclaimer, I didn't measure it or anything, it just seemed smaller than our queen bed at home.

The futon that served as a couch in the living room is the type with a fairly thin mattress. I wouldn't want to spend more than a few nights on it if renting the place for more than 2 people.

I have stayed here two times and I wouldn't stay anywhere else when going to the coast. Being able to open the back door and see the breathtaking view is priceless. The beach is right there and the property is centrally located from the various shops and restaraunts. This is a must stay when going to the coast.
