“Great Experience!!!”
Reviewed July 21, 2008

My husband and I wanted to stay at the beach with our dog, and this hotel was available. We stayed in one of the little cottages they had available. It is a little older hotel but was extremely clean and nice. The staff was very friendly and I would definately go back there!! Good job Sea Horse!!!

This is an older hotel but the rooms have been nicely updated and are clean with fantastic ocean views: right at the edge of the bluff overlooking the ocean. Ocean access is down the adjacent stairs (the equivalent of about 4 flights), and the beach is wide and sandy, which our 4 year old found to be delightful (me too). Wireless internet worked well. Breakfast was pretty basic. If you want an affordable great ocean view and access to the beach, this is a good choice.

My family and I were looking for a nice motel near the beach at a reasonable price, and we found it at the Sea Horse Motel. The ocean front rooms had amazing views. It has great extras for the price. A nice indoor pool, and a spa with another great view. They also provided a very nice continental breakfast. And to top it all off the service was great. I would definitely recommend this to anyone heading to the OR coast.

We saw advertised no charge for dog..thought this was a good idea and the price was comparable to other places on the coast and since we were seniors with 2 tiny senior dogs, looked like a money saver during these tight gas times.

What a mistake..we sat outside on a patch of grass as, our room was not ready, needed to use restroom and had a difficult time as they would not allow us to use our room. or even the office restroom. Finally another guest who also was waiting for his room was ready sooner and he invited us to use his facilities. They had NO facilites offered despite me requesting such!!!! We were told we when making reservations there was no refund for the first day. Otherwise we would have left as already we knew this place was a mess. There was no place to sit except on a patch of grass on the street..We were told they would call us on cell phone when room was ready. No one ever called and after 2 hours I went to office asking how much longer and was told the room was ready. I asked why we were not called, was informed there was a shift change!

Next morning we could hardly wait to leave so went to the breakfast which was terrible, It was obvious that the place had never had any safety inspection, we were fortunate we did not have an accident. as
There was very little sitting space so we wondered how the place could have even passed a safety inspection, or even a food handling license," No watch your step was even posted." no warning signs posted. Anyone could have easily had a bad accident...
After a difficult noisy unsafe night we could hardly wait to get out of there.

We will gladly pay a pet fee from now on, we assume they could not keep customers unless they did not charge for dogs. Doubt any previous dog owners would return anyway.

I truly apologize for the unacceptable service these guests received. We have new management now, and I hope that these guests will give Sea Horse another try.

This hotel was horrible. The people at the front desk really exaggerated the access to the beach. They told us they were only 100 feet from the beach. There are extremely steep concrete stairs going down to the beach. Its not for people who are not physically fit! The indoor pool was small and the hot tub was dirty. Without a cover on top, there was bird poop all around and the hot top cover was disintegrating and pieces were in the hot tub. The room was horrible. We could hear the people next to us very clearly; all their conversations! No screens on the windows and just plain trashy. Plus they were not cheap! We decided to only stay the night and go somewhere else. We got a much better motel with excellent beach access for less price than we stayed at the Seahorse. It's terrible there and I would never recommend it. I wouldn't have even given it 1 star but there is not a choice worse than 1 star here.

We tell guests that we sit 100 feet above the beach, and our beach access is stairs. This is not something we try to distort, as we are proud of our amazing view. The stairs are owned by the city and are maintained very well and are not steep, although there are about 135 steps. There is another beach access point with a ramp 5 blocks from us for those who do not wish to use stairs.

We get many compliments on our indoor heated pool, and outdoor hot tub that is glassed in and has an amazing ocean view. I'm sorry that the cover was coming apart, it is heavily used and gets replaced frequently. The spa and pool areas are cleaned several times throughout the day and had this guest let us know that it needed attention, we would have happily taken care of it right away.

We have had many, many great comments on our rooms, amenities, and guest service. I'm sorry that this guest did not enjoy their stay. I hope that next time they stay at any property and are dissatisfied, that they let the establishment know right away so it can be made right.

Before our recent trip to Oregon we checked out a number of hotels in Lincoln City. Some did not allow one-night stays. The Sea Horse did, and the virtual tour of the rooms was helpful. We booked a reservation for room 123, which is a corner room with a great view. When we arrived at the Sea Horse in Lincoln City I wasn't overly impressed by the outside. However, once we checked into our room I found it to be just as the virtual tour showed it.

The room was large, the bed was comfortable, and everything was clean. The view was magnificent! We cracked open the windows to hear the ocean, which was right below our room, and slept like babies. The room wasn't "fancy", but the location was great. Be warned, however, that if you want to walk the beach there is a long, steep flight of stairs you have to go down (and then back up!) to do so.

The winter cost was about $150, tax included, so it was a little pricey, but I thought it was well worth the money.

We decided last minute to head to the beach. I looked online and found the Sea Horse Motel in Lincoln City. We have 2 dogs so we needed a motel or hotel that would allow pets. They allowed pets but they were a little pricey at 145.00 a night ,but it was last minute. I could not believe the dingy, stained rug, hole in the wall motel that we arrived at. I didn't even want to sit on the couch because it was so stained and dirty. We did have a room for pets so maybe that's why it was in such bad shape but if they are going to charge those prices they should put a little effort into making it livable!

I'm sorry that this guest did not have a good experience at our property. We had new owners take over in 2005 and we have remodeled and refurbished all of our oceanfront rooms since then. We take pride in our reputation for clean, pet friendly rooms with incredible ocean views. All of our rooms, pet friendly as well as non-pet, have their carpets and furniture professionally cleaned regularly. I hope these guests will give us another try.
