We stayed in a 1 bedroom condo for 7 nights at the Inn at Spanish Head and were sooooo DISAPPOINTED. We would've left, but it was so difficult getting everything to our room to begin with (the parking lot is across the highway from the hotel), and with 3 small children and nowhere else to go, it was just too much stuff to move, and my husband wasn't willing to do it.
Our room looked nothing like the video on the "hotel's" website. I put that in quotes because we finally learned that this isn't an "inn" or "hotel." The entire place is privately owned condos in sore need of a complete makeover and paint job. Definitely the back of the building doesn't look very good (stains all over) or the interior. Even the chairs and piano in the lounge area are quite shabby. The only area that does look good is the front of the building.
The Inn is VERY UNSAFE for small children. Our crawling 1 year old sliced several of his fingers on the baseboard heater. The metal inside is like tiny razor blades. The slats on the balcony railing are very wide, so a small child could easily fall through to the concrete below. The floor is also very hard -- concrete with a VERY thin, old, stained carpet that smells bad. Also, there are no protective locks inside the room door as most hotels have, so my 3 year old could easily open the door and walk right out if we weren't watching him constanly. I would NEVER stay here again. There is no chance for parents with small children to relax with all these dangers.
The restaurant view is beautiful, but the food is not good and horribly overpriced. I have no problem paying for good food or fine accomodations, but not when there're bad! Yes, just as a previous review says, the deserts do look good, but are also bad.
The rooms don't have AC, which is a problem in the summer when the sun beats in, and the room gets very hot, and you only have a thin, gausy curtain to keep the sun out. My husband kept wearing his sunglasses in the room with the curtains closed because it was so bright. Do more research and find another place to stay. I hope no one has to experience what we did!
