“Rooms are outdated, "hotel" is shabby! Unsafe for small children!”
Reviewed August 15, 2004

We stayed in a 1 bedroom condo for 7 nights at the Inn at Spanish Head and were sooooo DISAPPOINTED. We would've left, but it was so difficult getting everything to our room to begin with (the parking lot is across the highway from the hotel), and with 3 small children and nowhere else to go, it was just too much stuff to move, and my husband wasn't willing to do it.

Our room looked nothing like the video on the "hotel's" website. I put that in quotes because we finally learned that this isn't an "inn" or "hotel." The entire place is privately owned condos in sore need of a complete makeover and paint job. Definitely the back of the building doesn't look very good (stains all over) or the interior. Even the chairs and piano in the lounge area are quite shabby. The only area that does look good is the front of the building.

The Inn is VERY UNSAFE for small children. Our crawling 1 year old sliced several of his fingers on the baseboard heater. The metal inside is like tiny razor blades. The slats on the balcony railing are very wide, so a small child could easily fall through to the concrete below. The floor is also very hard -- concrete with a VERY thin, old, stained carpet that smells bad. Also, there are no protective locks inside the room door as most hotels have, so my 3 year old could easily open the door and walk right out if we weren't watching him constanly. I would NEVER stay here again. There is no chance for parents with small children to relax with all these dangers.

The restaurant view is beautiful, but the food is not good and horribly overpriced. I have no problem paying for good food or fine accomodations, but not when there're bad! Yes, just as a previous review says, the deserts do look good, but are also bad.

The rooms don't have AC, which is a problem in the summer when the sun beats in, and the room gets very hot, and you only have a thin, gausy curtain to keep the sun out. My husband kept wearing his sunglasses in the room with the curtains closed because it was so bright. Do more research and find another place to stay. I hope no one has to experience what we did!

This is really a condo. The rooms all have a beautiful view of the beach. The pool is heated and has a plexiglass wind protection. The resturaunt is outstanding. A bit too far to walk to other attractions on Highway 101. Don't stay on the 3rd floor or below if you don't like having spotlights illuminating the beach all night shine into the room.

The front desk staff was friendly and understanding when I checked out after the first of three reserved nights. The manager never contacted me as I was told would happen.

The decor of the room was hideously outdated. The mattress was lumpy and uncomfortable and the box springs so squeaky that sleep was impossible.

The high speed internet was non existent. People were in the hall beside the pool trying to get a connection.

We were very DISSAPOINTED with our room. WE payed over $200/nght with taxes for 2 nights. At that rate, we would have expected our room to be
large and to have atleast the basics toothpaste, shampoo/conditioner but none of that was included.
Our room was #225 and it was so small that we had to have a hideaway bed that you put back on the wall. Also in the afternoons our room was hot and no A/C just a heater. No real blankets just a white sheet and not enough pillows. The view of the restaurant on the 10th floor ws beautiful but the food wasn't good at all but was very expensive.
The desserts are made by the hostess of the restaurant and they look good but when you taste them they are quite bad. The hotel isn't too clean either. The jacuzzi downstairs is very dirty and looks very old. It needs new tiles. But don't get me wrong about the city. Lincoln City is gorgeus, it's just the hotel that we aren't happy about. We will be going back again but next time we will be staying @ another hotel that my husband found @ $169/nght and has huge rooms. We went to go see it and is about 1 mile frm the Spanish Head. It has a fireplace in each room and it is clean and private. Every room has a huge balcony. It is pretty from the front and also from the back. Unlike the Spanish Head that looks clean and luxurious from the front but old and dirty from the back. As a matter of fact you wouldn't believe it was the same place if you saw the back of it as the back looks like a mental institution from a scary movie. I am sorry to sound so mean about all of this but I would hate to see smone pay what we payed and stay in the room we stayed in as you wouldn't have a choice but to agree with me.

There is no better view from any restaurant we have been to, of the beach then the Inn at Spanish Head. The value of the restaurant compared to others in Lincoln City can't be beat. They do need a good old Crab Louie, though.

And if I am going to the beach-I want to stay on the beach. The views from all the rooms we have had was breathtaking. The beach access, AN ELEVATOR TO THE BEACH! What more could one ask for.?

We just returned from a weekend at Inn at Spanish Head. Our room had a beautiful view of the ocean and great access to the water. The room was decorated very comfortably and clean. Staff was courteous and helpful. Food in the restaurant was reasonably priced and the view from there could not be rivaled. Value for our money was excellent. My only negative thought about the weekend is that we could not stay longer!

The Inn at Spanish Head is our favorite resort on the Oregon coast. Every room has a great view, the location is superb and the restaurant is excellent.
