Wonderful bed, friendly staff, a GREAT value, more birds than you can count live on the grounds enjoying the by product of the geothermal lakes that surround the resort. Dog friendly, unpretentious, and one of the most green, historic place you could possibly stay in the area.

The spa pool is filled (and refilled regularly) with un-chlorinated natural soft and delightfully fresh water--geothermally heated right from the well. (The water in general is spectacular, sweet-tasting and really an joy to drink--we took some home.)

If you want a new chain with prices twice this place and half the value, go right ahead. I'll be driving extra to go again. And karma should reward you if you compare it to a$150 room and quibble that at half that price all the linens should be brand new. They are spotless, and this family-operated place is a gem.

Room Tip: With our dogs we loved the corner unit 45, but I hear there are new units in the old part that will...

Do not be put off by the slightly dilapidated appearance. The setting with open fields and hills with a spouting geyser is hard to beat. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. equipped with microwave, refrigerator with freezer and a coffee maker. The hot spring fed open air pool is kept hot (i think about 106 when we visited) for a great soak.

The nearby town of Lakeview has few and not very interesting restaurants. The best cafe burnt down some years ago. There is a Safeway well stocked with microwave meals and produce and a liquor store across the street. We bought food for dinner and took it back to the motel.

Room Tip: the slightly larger rooms in the new section are worth $10 more. The location is quiet. You can dri...

Our daily travel plan found us in the area and a hot spring pool sounded good. This is a very old health resort that is being refurbished. It appears it is a family operation and it is clear they are trying hard with limited resources. Prices are low so with the pool and off highway location it is good value. When we were there it was surrounded by the Canada Geese on stop over. Lakeview is about 5 min drive to eat etc.

I have been to Lake view three times and every time I stay at Jim's Hunter's Hot Springs Motel. I soak in the hot springs pool every morning and night , which relaxes me so I can have a very fruitful business meeting by day and great nights sleep by night.

The full length hot springs pool is the reason you should stay at this motel. And this motel is pet friendly also. The showers and heating in the rooms is provided by the hot springs also. The rooms are very inviting and clean and Chris and Jim will be glad to help you for any other
special needs you may have.(Such as the closet gas station, or best breakfast in town or best pizza to go)

Last week I decided to try out this Hot Springs. I can only say that the water was the best I have been in for sometime. The owner was very friendly and informative about the property and the Hot Springs. He is working on projects to upgrade the property. The room I stayed in was very clean. The value was also there. I would recommended soaking in these hot springs. If you are from a city and want to be waited on hand and foot...this is not the place for you. I would recommend this to anyone that loves Hot Springs!!!

We are truly mystified as to how this place received such a high rating. It's over-the-top scary and strange. The grounds are a mess, with dead plants and junk everywhere and the "lobby" (if that's what you'd call it) was dark and filthy. I asked to see a room before we committed to staying there and that, too, was old and worn. I usually go with my gut and my gut said Don't Stay Here! So we didn't. And, by the way, we were there in Sept. and the hot springs was completely empty....just sayin'. We headed into town to stay at the very nice Best Western.

You're response seems suspect to me at best. My hotel has recieved high ratings from guests who have stayed here and truly enjoyed their time.

You're comment of our hot springs being dry is a false accuasation. The front ponds, which are fed by the geyser, have dried up anually during the latest parts of summer due to the ongoing drought. Those ponds are already completly full as of now. The natural hot springs on our property that feed our hot springs pool have NEVER dried up. We will continue offering some of the best hot water in the world, in terms of temperature, natural chemical content, and a sulfur rate so low it has little to none of the "rotten egg smell" found in so many natural hot springs.

Hunter's opened in 1925 as a therapeutic hot springs resort. It is documented for healing all kinds of ailments, including abdominable pain or discomfort for nearly a century. As the only American owned hotel in Lakeview, it can be challanging keeping up with the foreign owned big chain corporations, but we have been and will continue to restore and remodel this wonderfully historic landmark.

So I am just back from my second stay at Hunter's Hot Springs Motel in Lakeview OR. Each time I went it was for lodging while attending a course at Thunder Ranch. Jim, the owner, is a really great guy - down to earth, very friendly, interested in his guests and really makes an effort to make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible. He has always been very accommodating - even packing me lunches to take each day for the course at TR. The motel itself is old - it has been there for many years but Jim has updated most of the rooms and each time I have stayed there the rooms have been clean, well appointed and comfortable.

A real bonus is the hot springs. The motel was originally built as a "spa" hotel and Jim has restored much of the natural springs. There is a common pool and several of the rooms have their own soaking tubs - each fed with the natural spring waters. It is something to really look forward to at the end of the day.

There is also a very nice area with fireplace, pool table and lounge.

Overall, by far the best motel in Lakeview!
