“Delightful tidy motel”
Reviewed June 5, 2012

I'm guessing the Interstate 8 Motel has been renovated within the past few years, which accounts for the seemingly brand new tile in the bathroom and the new asphalt in the east (overflow) parking lot. The staff were super nice and helpful. I just wonder why such aromatic cleaning solutions are used to clean the rooms and hope the management thinks about coming up with an alternative. Otherwise, I loved my stay at the Interstate 8! The king-sized bed was comfortable and I don't require a coffee maker in my room.

I am sure that the group of six middle-aged motorcyclists from British Columbia appreciated being able to park their bikes under the protection of the overhang. The motel is directly across the street from the (local's favorite) Tall Town Cafe and Bakery. I am glad I booked this quiet and tidy little motel for my stay in Lakeview.

Room Tip: Upper floor rooms on east side are probably even quieter than the first floor rooms.

Traveling with my elderly parents...long days on the road. We wanted a quiet, smoke free room with comfortable beds and got both! Would have liked a clock and coffee maker in the room, but the lobby coffee was excellent. Manager was very helpful with rock-hounding info! Thank you!

I was pleased to fine a decent clean room for a fair price. the bed was comfortable. Would have preferred coffee in the room, but the coffee in the lobby was hot & tasted ok. I would stay here again if in the area.

I'd rather be able to park my car in front of my door than have a valet do it for me. So I have no problem with $60 hotels, but the bed in my room is the worst I've had in a long time. Really, if I have have an in-room coffee maker and a comfy bed I'm happy. This room has niether.

As this was a business trip, the company selected the motel, but it was exactly what you'd expect from a small town motel off the highway.

The room was a little oversized with a a small table, two chairs, dresser, queen bed, and bathroom. The bed was decently comfortable although the walls were pretty thin and you could hear your neighbors move around. The carpet was old and had some stains, but seemed to be vaccuumed. There was also a refrigerator, but no microwave or coffee pot. The bathroom was pink tile and pink fixtures and the showerhead was like something from a 70's high school locker room, but the pressure was good and there was plenty of hot water - no hair dryer though. Everything seemed mostly clean, but definitely starting to show wear and tear and desperately in need of an update.

The room had HBO and a decent number of tv channels and they offered complimentary coffee, juice, and pre-packaged danishes in the morning as well as free wifi. The staff however was exceptionally friendly (actually, everyone in Lakeview was very friendly) and seemed anxious to help. You can tell it's a locally owned business and they try hard to make guests feel welcome.

All in all, you could do a lot worse in Lakeview and the nearby Best Western at $100 or so is probably overpriced.

I stopped first at the Best Western since it was the only motel listed in my AAA tour book. The lobby/office was in the midst of being painted, which made me wonder if they were even open (it was a mess). They offered me a room for one person with AAA discount at $99. I didn't want to pay that much and stopped at the Oregon Tourism office at the Chamber of Commerce downtown. Incredibly helpful--suggested Interstate 8 and even called for availability. I paid $44 for a non-smoking room with a king bed on the second floor. An equivalent room on the first floor would've been $10 more. The room was fine for me--clean, HBO, wifi, fridge--and the owner was very helpful. She gave me directions to a car wash nearby (5 minutes for $1.50--what a bargain) and recommended the Dinner Bell, a small diner at the other end of town with a great hamburger with grilled onions and grilled bun, pasties and other specialties. I'm always happy to find an independently owned motel that's reasonably priced and comfortable even if a little raggedy in spots.

The Interstate 8 is your run-of-the-mill roadside motel. We paid $51 for a larger-than-average room with two queen beds, small fridge, and cable TV. The property is showing its age, and the room was showing some wear and tear. It wasn't the cleanest room in the world, but it certainly wasn't the dirtiest. It was a totally acceptable place to stay, however, and the front desk clerk was very friendly.
Although the motel was nearly empty when we arrived, it had sold out by 5pm with truckers, hunters, BLM employees, and anyone else that found the $100/night best western down the street was full.
We were on an extended road trip, and the laundromat across the street was a big help. It's also within walking distance of downtown restaurants and shops.
