Loved DiamondStone Lodge. Nice accommodations, private, large rooms by any standards with view of the golf course and beautifully landscaped yard all around, ponds, water falls. Thank you Gloria and Doug! Wish we could stay longer! Loved the setting, the gourmet breakfast, made from scratch, the proximity to Newberry Park, Crater Lake, Deshuttes Forest National Park and more. Had dinner one night in Sunriver at the brewery, which is a few scenic miles away and spent one night in Bend. It just happened they had their annual street fair/festival the day we arrived in the area. Thanks for he tip Doug! Food, art work, live entertainment and more. Karma, the owner's dog, made our son happy. Both 9 year olds played in the yard for hours. Doug has been very nice host and is a wealth of information about the area as well his other passion, motorcycles. Highly recommend the lodge for visiting the area and even celebrating life events for families or groups. Worth to mention the collection of motorcycles, his other business MotoFantasy, that can be rented from Doug! He knows his motorcycles and has quite a few different types to choose from if you have a passion for it. Many thanks!

We really enjoyed the serene time spent at DiamondStone. We were in the area to explore Newberry Crater and wanted a quiet place to stay. We enjoyed visiting with Doug and the other guests--here from England to ride bikes! In the evening and early morning, we enjoyed the tranquility of the grounds. We watched deer and quail from our window. The breakfast was made to order, was generous and delicious. What a wonderful change from chain motels. Doug really makes you feel cared for and comfortable.

Just after reading the remarks here, I phoned Doug to make reservations for us and I felled immediately that this was a guy I liked, I ask about the breakfast and he told me “ don’t worry you will like it every time”, guess what, we did...
Even that big sweet thing that we had on one day “The Dutch Baby”
I am not that keen on sweet things in the morning, (big guy who likes steak and eggs, bacon and hash browns) but with that lovely fresh fruit, my wife and I enjoyed every bite of it.
Spending 3 nights here (too short)was such a marvellous decision to make and we can’t thank them both enough for giving us such a wonderful experience, that nature, the calm, the BBQ’s, feeding your dog rib’s and potato salad
(Just a tiny bit, once)
We told Gloria and Doug we will come back and we will for sure

Five of us on motorcycles stayed two days at Diamondstone lodge, I can't say enough nice things about this place, the setting is absolutly beautiful, our hosts; Gloria and Doug are the BEST! The accomodations are first class! We had a whole lodge to ourselves. Downstairs in the garage Doug has numerous vintage and specialty motorcycles you can rent if you chose to, what a great idea!!! We had everything we could possibly want there and if you needed anything Doug was right there to get it for you! Great hosts, wonderful people who enjoy what they are doing, they make you feel like you are part of the family! Doug and Gloria fixed us breakfast and dinner both days and it was superb! The only problem i had was that two days was not near enough!! I am truely looking forward to another trip to the La Pine area and the Diamondstone Lodge. I know that i can speak for the rest of the "Purple Rats" when i say that our stay there was the highlight of our trip! Thanks so much Gloria and Doug!

Room Tip: All accomodations are top of the line, Very spacous, Very clean

The lodge is located about 30 minutes outside of Bend in a remote location. We stayed in one of the guest lodges and had the place to ourselves (kitchen, living room, dining room and bedroom with en suite bathroom).

Everything was clean, well maintained and modern. I especially liked the bathroom and the fact that we had a living room to relax in and watch tv in. There was a jacuzzi in the back but we didn't put it to use.

The only issues were with the location and the heating. The location is remote and there really isn't much around it. It's a 30 minute drive to Bend which for us was a little much for a nice dinner. In terms of the heating, the place was a little cold and we weren't able to turn the heat up. Other than that I would recommend this lodge for those that want a nice spacious place outside of the city.

Hi Folks, We see that you stayed only one night, & made your reservation totally online, which is cool, but it meant we didn't speak to each other, so you didn't get the insider tips. That's the beauty of a small resort like DiamondStone. Being from San Francisco, you may have felt you were in the boonies, but DiamondStone is only 2.5 miles off of 4-lane Hwy 97 that stretches through Oregon. Rural acreage, peace & quiet are our specialties (no traffic or streetlights - see the milky way.) There are a dozen restaurants less than 10 miles north or south; there was no need to go to Bend. This area has 4 golf courses now, and many fine dining facilities. La Pine has great ethnic restaurants. Our favorite restaurant is almost walking distance, just 3 miles. Regarding the heat, you stayed in September, and we had not yet adjusted the solar radiant floor heat temperature from summer setting. Each room has either electric or propane accessory heaters. Thanks for your comments.
